•CHARLIE•"Hey, are you done?",Julian asked as he walked close to me.
"Nope",I looked down at him from the ladder,"can't you call a plumber to fix this?".
"Too expensive", he clapped,"chop chop. I don't have all day".
I frowned.
There's a leak on the roof from a damaged pipe and he's telling me to fix it. I don't know a damn thing about plumbing. Like, how do you use that metal screwy thingy used on bolts?
I don't know what's so hard about calling a professional to do it. This place is fucking sponsored for Pete's sake.
I groaned inwardly.
What a cheapskate.
My hands were dirtied with some white stuff that Julian told me to use to plaster the hole, the front of my shirt was wet and my legs hurt from standing on this flimsy ladder almost all morning.
"Uhm, Charlie?", Susan, one of the painters called.
I looked down at her,"Yeah?".
"I need more black paint. Could you please get me some?".
"It's in the storage room".
"I know".
"Can't you go and get it yourself? I'm pretty busy right now".
"B-but I'll get dirty".
"Of course. You're a painter but you're scared to get dirty. Aren't you amazing?",I thought sarcastically.
I got down the ladder,"Okay. Give me a minute".
I went into the storage room and looked for the black paint. After ten minutes of searching and not finding anything, I got out and guess what?
She wasn't even there.
Argh, how frustrating!
I went into the work room and everyone was whispering. Some kept looking passed their canvases at the entrance. I looked around trying to see what caught everyone's attention and for God knows what reason, my eyes met Theodore's.
My face heated up immediately.
I WANT TO DIE.
I immediately turned around and rushed to the changing room. I grabbed a clean towel, wet it and began to wipe off the white stuff on my hands and clothes.
That was so embarrassing.
What is he doing here and why did he come on a day I'm looking like Jack Frost got caught up in an avalanche?
I leaned my forehead on my locker and looked down as I began to clean the front of my trousers.
The door opened and I looked at the person who was now closing it.
Theodore.
"What are you doing here?", I asked as I turned the other way and rubbed the wet towel against my fingers harder. This stuff wasn't coming off.
"Victoria and I came to check up on the place. I also thought that it'd be a good opportunity to get your phone number",he walked closer to me,"but you ran away as soon as you saw me. Did I do something wrong?".
"No, it's just that I'm a mess right now cause I'm fixing a leak-".
"Why are you fixing a leak?", he asked, confused.
"I was told to do so".
He hummed,"Turn around".
"No way".
"I want to know all sides of you", he whispered seductively though I could tell that he was just teasing.
I blushed,"You say such embarrassing things so easily".
"Don't be shy".
"I'm not shy".
"Then turn around and let me kiss you".
I gulped nervously but turned around. He's eyes dropped to my dirty hands and I hid them behind my back.
He leaned in and kissed me lightly,"It's work so it's expected that you get a little dirty".
I smiled,"I don't see you dirty though".
He chuckled,"I just have great luck".
"I can't touch you", I complained, more to myself.
He smiled, held my chin and captured my mouth in a slow but sensual kiss that I didn't hesitate to respond to.
I opened my mouth and he slid his tongue in, letting our tongues slide against each other erotically as our breaths overlapped. I released a soft gasp when he sucked on my lower lip then his mouth covered mine once again. Theodore pulled away and pressed his forehead gently against mine as we tried to catch our breaths.
My heart was pounding and my mind was blank. My lower region, on the other hand, was very attentive.
He chuckled,"I can finally kiss you without worrying about heart attacks or being outside".
I laughed,"It feels nice".
We both leaned in but before our lips could reconnect, the door opened. I pushed Theodore away lightly and looked at Brody, who just got in.
Brody didn't look at us or pay much attention to us. I guess he didn't notice my and Theodore's close proximity.
"Here is my business card", Ted said as he handed it to me,"I'll tell Victoria to send a plumber here".
I got the card and nodded.
When Theodore left, Brody immediately came to me.
"What did he want?", he asked, grabbing my shoulders.
"He was just looking around".
"And why did he give you his business card?".
"Beats me", I lied with a shrug.
His hold on me tightened,"I don't trust that guy. Don't get too close to him".
After work, I sat at the bus stop waiting for the eight pm bus. The night was cool and I was happy that my shirt had dried up.
I got bored and dug my hand in my pocket in search of my phone and pulled out my phone together with Theodore's business card.
Should I call him?
Well, I should but I felt really nervous so I settled on sending a text.
Hey, it's Charlie.
I sent it and waited. There was no reply for a while and I regretted texting. Then my phone suddenly started ringing and I had to grab the front of my shirt to stop my heart from jumping out.
I answered,"H-hi".
He chuckled,"What's up, Charlie?".
Oh God, I loved the way my name rolled out his tongue,"I just wanted to confirm your number",I lied.
"Hm? That's it?".
"And also about Saturday's date, what time should I be ready?".
"At 11am. I'll come pick you up".
"Okay... Bye",I cut immediately and leaned on the bench, throwing my head backwards as a wide smile surfaced on my features.
Good lord, my heart.
