At the dinner table, Elizabeth Cole was celebrating her birthday on February 18th. At the table sat Mr. and Mrs. Cole, Annabelle, Felicity and the Coles' friend's from England Mr. and Mrs. Miller and their children Samantha and Lily. Samantha is Annabelle's age and Lily is Elizabeth and Felicity's age.
"I have a gift, for my dear Elizabeth," said Mother. It was wrapped nicely in a green box. She opened it and peeled inside to find a red heart with a yellow chain to go around her neck.
Mother began the story, "It was my great-great grandmother's necklace. It was passed down for generations and it is now passed down to you my dear Elizabeth."
Annabelle looked so jealous, but Elizabeth felt proud!
"How beautiful," said Felicity. "Why don't you put it on?"
So mother helped Elizabeth put on the necklace. Elizabeth was beaming, she was so lucky to have gotten such a beautiful family heirloom.
