In the hallway, Seth tapped Colton on the shoulder, "I need to hit the men's room."

"Same here."

They told Mr. Bagley and went down the hall and turned right. Standing at the urinal, Seth asked, "Do you plan on telling them about our new business venture?"

"Only if they ask," responded Colton as he zipped his jeans. "They'll know eventually, but I'd rather it be later. I have a few things to tell the Sheriff though. I promised Lacie I would talk to the police about a possible robbery I witnessed on The Point, and then there's Tony, the Latino boy who's still having trouble."

"You mean the illegal kid you helped a few months ago? What's wrong with him, now?"

"More of the same crap as before. He said drug dealers kidnapped his grandmother in Mexico."

Mr. Bagley and Sheriff McNabb were standing in the hallway waiting for Colton and Seth.

"Come on boys, I haven't got all day," grumbled the Sheriff. "I have some important matters to discuss with the two of you."

Colton and Seth took a seat in front of Mr. Bagley's desk. The Sheriff sat in Mr. Bagley's chair making him stand next to the bookcase.

"Colton, I understand that You and Seth are thinking about starting a detective business. Tell me about it because I have ideas to help the two of you."

Colton almost fell off the chair while Seth chuckled.

"What's so funny, Seth?" asked the sheriff.

"We didn't plan on telling anyone until later," Seth said. "So Colton, I guess this is later?"

"I guess. Sheriff, I believe you've been talking to Lacie's uncle Ned."

"Yes, and I even called your dad and talked to him. I want to talk the two of you into working with my men. Colton, you have a nose for trouble, and we need someone like you to keep their eyes open and report back to us. Now, tell me about your plans, and don't waste words."

Colton took a deep breath and said, "I had considered becoming a police detective, but after talking to Seth I decided to go into the security business. We'll offer home, business, and Cybersecurity solutions in the area, and as we grow, like I expect we will, we can expand into the Metro area."

"Sounds like a plan, but you need an education to accomplish that. If you plan on being a private eye, you need an understanding of the law to find your way around it. I want the two of you to sign up for the class I teach at the Tech Center, here in Bad Axe. It's an accredited program and will count both toward high school and college credit."

Seth looked at Colton, "That's a great idea, Colton. There are students going to the Tech Center from our school, and we'd learn some tricks of the trade."

"Tricks? Boy, I don't teach tricks. It's science, math, psychology, and the law. These classes are designed to help you deal with people and their rights."

Seth sheepishly replied, "Sorry, I didn't mean to be disrespectful. I'm not sure your course will fit into our plans for graduation becasue we need specific class credits."

"That's the beauty of this program. You'll get credit for your math and English requirements, and specific credits for several colleges. It's a two-year program, but if you let me get you into next semester's class, I know you can make up the first semester. Trust me, I'll get you through the program," the Sheriff said.

Mr. Bagley added, "This would be a good choice should you want to go into law. Colton, with your ability, you would make a great lawyer."

Colton looked at Seth who was beaming with excitement. "What do you think?" he asked.
