Prompt: Harry is a fisherman and Louis is the biggest thing he's caught; in MORE ways than one. *insert shifty eyes emoji*

"Help!" Harry shrieks, dropping his fishing rod and squirming away.

"What's the matter?" Liam blinks, catching Harry's rod before it falls in the water.

"There's something tugging on it!" Harry says quickly, wiping some sea water off his cheek that got splashed on there somehow.

"You idiot that's supposed to happen," Liam teases, shoving the reel back into Harry's hands and backing away before they turn it into a game of hot potato.

Harry whines and holds the rod out in front of him. "How do I do it?" He panics, "The line's gonna break, Liam, look the rod is bending too!"

"Just reel it in, Harry, before it gets off."

"But," Harry pouts, turning the reel handle in a circular motion, "I can feel it moving around, it's fighting me!"

Liam watches from a distance, raising an eyebrow in amusement.

Harry keeps spinning the handle and then the fish hops out of the water. It splashes back in and sends water over into the boat. "Aww!" Harry flinches. He starts bouncing up and down. "There it is!"

"You almost have it..." Liam eggs him on.

"What do I do-" Harry stammers, reeling as fast as he can.

The fish shoots out of the water and the line flies up until the hook hits the tip of the rod. "I broke it! I told you!" Harry cries, swinging around to face Liam.

Liam lunges forward and reaches for the fish. It's just flopping around on the end of the rod. "You're not supposed to reel it in that far," He laughs, trying to keep the fish still so he can take it off the hook.

Harry is giggling and making sounds. "It's all wet, Liam, it's getting me all wet," He gasps.

    "Hold still, stop moving."

    Harry tries to hold still.

"Got it," Liam finally says, freeing the fish. He holds it up by the lip.

Harry drops the rod and steps closer. "What is it?" Harry says nervously, looking at the fish curiously.

Liam makes a thinking sound. "It's a rainbow trout, I think," He says after a pause.

"What should I name it?" Harry beams mischievously.

"It's a freakin' fish, Harry, not a pet," Liam shakes his head.

"Shh," Harry said, "He'll hear you. Here, give it to me." He reaches out and takes the fish, yelping at the slimy touch. "Someone around here's gotta appreciate you, little guy," He cooes.

    Liam rolls his eyes, "Jesus."

Harry gives Liam a dirty look and carries his fish to the back of the boat. He kneels down by the water edge and dips the fish's tail in.

The fish wiggles it's tail towards the water, it's eyes looking up at harry.

"What," Harry whispers, "What is it, little guy?"

    Liam just stands there.

    The fish's gills move.

"Do you have a name?" Harry wonders, leaning closer.

"Harry, throw it back in the water," Liam scolds. "Stop playing games with it."

"I can't just throw him away, not anymore, he's my friend," Harry explains, moving the fish back and forth dreamily through the water.

    "I swear, Harry-"

"Louis!" Harry singsongs, "His name is Louis!" Harry stands up again and cradles the fish in the sleeves of his windbreaker. "Liam, say hello to Louis," He urges.

Liam takes a long breath. "You're so lucky you're pretty," He says under his breath.

    Harry does a little twirl.

    "What are you doing now?"

"Louis wants to hear a song," Harry says, starting to hum.

"Louis wants you to put him in the water because he can't freakin' breathe, that's what he wants," Liam retorted.

     Harry giggles to himself.

     "Do it or I will."

Harry puts up a guarding hand, pouting his lips. "Liiiiaaam, you wouldn't hurt Louis," Harry says knowingly, batting his eyes.

There's a pause, just them standing there. The water laps against the side of the boat.

Liam reaches forward and flips Harry's arms upwards.

Harry lets out a pained cry, stumbling over his own feet. "No! Louuuuis!"

Louis flies through the air, his scales glistening flamboyantly across the sky.

Harry reaches the edge of the boat and throws himself against the rail, his curls bouncing against his already tear stained cheeks.

Louis hits the water in the distance and disappears into the deep blue.

Harry sniffles, gazing out after him. And with a heavy heart he whispers, "I'll never forget you."
