At CatCo, one day later

Nia's POV

It was a very quiet morning at CatCo, everyone was very focused on their work, except for Kara who was nowhere to be seen, I was starting to get worried so I went into James's office to ask if he'd seen her but he said he hadn't and that she wasn't answering her phone either, so I decided to go to her apartment to make sure she was okay.

At Kara's apartment

I knocked at the door but got no response. I was about to call Alex when I heard someone crying inside, so I slowly cracked the unlocked door open to see Kara laying on the couch covered in a blanket, red-faced and sobbing, looking at pictures on her phone. Even though I couldn't see the pictures clearly, I knew they were making her sad because every time she looked at a new photo she started to cry even more. I slowly walked in and closed the door behind me but Kara didn't even notice I was there until I went up to her "Kara, Kara look at me. What's wrong? What happened?" I asked her "She knows... L-lena found out I am Supergirl, Lex told her. She hates me now, she told me to leave and that she never wanted to see me again" she answered with tears streaming down her face, barely even able to utter the words. I wasn't sure what to say, so I called Alex and told her what had happened. It took about 20 minutes for her to get here, but in the meantime, I just sat with Kara embracing her, hoping that it would make her feel a little better.

When Alex arrived, she was holding bags full of ice cream, snacks, and Chinese food, and behind her stood James, J'onn, and Brainy. I said hi to everyone and gave Brainy a quick kiss before I pointed them to a sobbing Kara, laying on the couch.

Alex's POV

I had seen Kara sad before, but never quite like this. She looked so helpless, so broken. After an hour of us trying to cheer her up, Kara finally got herself to talk, sobbing in my arms "It's all my fault, Alex, I should have told her years ago, I never should have lied to her. I never even got to tell her myself. Lex told her before I had the chance to." I squeezed my sister tighter in my arms as J'onn started talking, trying to comfort her "Kara, there was nothing you could do... If you had told her earlier she would have been in grave danger. You did it to keep her safe." "I know it doesn't seem like it now, but you will get through this, just like you've gotten through every other obstacle you've faced" James continued "Oh, and by the way, I LOVE your new hair" Nia added with a smirk appearing on her face as if she was trying to make her friend laugh. A faint smile started to appear on Kara's face, followed by a light chuckle, "Thanks, I don't know what I would do without you guys" she said, starting to get up, as we heard my phone ring, seeing it was the DEO, "Danvers" I said into the phone hanging up a few seconds later, starting to move towards the door "What is it?" Kara asked wiping the tears from her eyes "There is an alien wreaking havoc downtown, near Lena's apartment, it already managed to crash a bus full of kids and take down an entire strike team. Are you ok to come help?" I turned to my sister only to see she was already in her Supergirl suit, moving towards the open window "I'll take that as a yes" I said as I ran out.

Downtown

I arrived on the scene, only to see that Kara had knocked the alien unconscious and was bringing the kids out of the broken down bus, helping anyone injured and laying them down on a stretcher near the ambulance.

When I am sure all is good and no one else needs help, I walk towards Kara who is laying the bus driver down on a stretcher, "Do we know the alien's race?" I ask her "Dominator" she grunts "Ugh, I hate those guys, they always just show up at the worst times" she adds "Do you think Lena saw all of this? Her apartment is right there" she says worried, pointing to the building on her left "I can't know, but even if she did, she would understand that Supergirl needs to keep saving people no matter what is happening in her life." I try to reassure her, but as I look behind Kara, I see an angry Lena marching towards her. I signaled for Kara to turn around, but as she saw Lena, her eyes filled with tears.

Lena's POV

I was sitting in my apartment, finishing up some work I had taken home when suddenly I heard a loud bang followed by screams and cries emitting from the street beneath my building, I went down to find out what was happening and I saw Supergirl, or rather, Kara, fighting some sort of alien. Suddenly all I could feel was rage, but I knew if I acted on it right now, many people could get hurt or worse, so I waited until 'Supergirl' defeated the alien and saved everyone. As soon as I saw that all of the commotion was over, I marched over to confront her, taken over by anger. Once I was standing in front of her, I could only manage to say one word "Kara?" I said in agony as she tried to justify herself, tears filling her eyes, "Lena, I- I can explai-" before I knew it, I was punching her in the face. She must not have been expecting it since she fell backward, dropping to the floor. I wasn't sure what was going on, but one thing was certain and that was that I had just punched the girl of steel, who also used to be my best friend, in the face.
