"So they made you a dancer?" She questioned as he shook his head.
"No the dancers were my backup. They made me a presenter for bonds and stuff so they could get more money for the war." He explained as she nodded.
"Was it fun?" She asked curiously.
"It wasn't what I expected." He replied as V nodded. So no, he didn't enjoy, she thought.
"But you ended up fighting in the end, yeah?" She asked.
"Yeah. It took a lot of dismissing orders to get there, but I did." He answered. It seemed like he was happy to fight for his country.
"And do people learn about you in history books now? Of the great Captain America?" She questioned making fun of him a little.
"Hey the name was what sold." He explained.
"I'm sure the costume was great too." She jokes as he let out a laugh. "Wait. You had a costume?"
"Stars and stripes. I had a shield too." He answered as they walked down the street.
"That's amazing." Steve shook his head. "No seriously. I love the cheesiness of it all, the pride. I wonder if I was that cool." She thought for a moment. Nothing.
"I'm sure you were." Steve assured the woman as they walked.
"Man I wish I could've seen your whole shebang. I'm sure it was great." She commented imagining it. Part of her liked thinking about it because it got her mind off of the past she didn't have. At the same time she wanted to think of it as the past she might've had.
"There's a museum." Steve commented.
"A whole museum dedicated to you?" She asked.
"No, no, just a section." He assured. "It's in D.C. though and that's about a 4 hour drive."
"D.C." She spoke. "Where are we now?"
"New York." He told her as she nodded.
"New York. Famous for pizza, taxis, and the lady with the torch." She recalled. She knew that much about the place. It was sort of frustrating that she knew that and not who she was. Pointless information.
"Her name is the Statue of Liberty and yeah that's pretty accurate. So have you had pizza?" He questioned.
"Pizza. Yeah." She nodded. "Greasy with cheese." She smiled.
"Exactly what I thought when I first tried it." He replied as she laughed.
"And what have you not tried?" She questioned.
"Well I haven't tried the street side vendors. Hot dogs, pretzels, and all that." He answered.
"Ooh pretzels!" She thought. "I remember pretzels. They have salt and they can come with cheese or cinnamon sugar."
"That sounds good." Steve nodded.
"Mhmm." She nodded as they got to a pretzel stand.
They got one pretzel and shared it deciding on the cheese option for now. "What's your favorite part about the world now?" V asked. "Compared to before."
"HDTV. Fried food. Cell phones." He listed a few and V smiled.
"They seem like basic things to me but I'm sure they are amazing to have out of the blue." She took a breath. "I think I may be from this century. I feel like I remember all those things like I've had them for a while."
"It seems like you're pretty in tune with the world." He nodded. "I just wish there were better ways for you to remember."
She looked at the pretzel. "Me too." She commented before picking off another piece. "I think I like it better with cinnamon sugar." She commented.
