And so the following morning when the sun did rise
Jolee found a satchel, he began packing supplies.
"In this tiny satchel i can only fit a little somethin"
"I will bring my second most prized possession,my lucky button."
You see, growing up jolee never had nuthin
The one thing Jolee always had was his mama's good lovin
Jolee's dad was always in trouble so he had to keep runnin
He never saw him much, he was always bummin
He showed up one night and said,"Can i come in?"
He casually strolled over and put his hand under Jolees's chin.
"Son, i know you havn't seen me a lot and you probably never will"
"I know you dont want to listen, but you must listen still."
"In my hand is a lucky button i always keep"
"It's got me outta trouble no matter how harsh or steep."
"Now Jolee, i have to say goodbye for the last time."
"And you will keep this lucky button that once was mine."
"My window has come and gone, my time has been spent."
"I must leave now, though i know you will not lament."
"Goodbye Jolee, grow up big and strong."
"Listen to your mother,be brave and live long."
As he choked on those last painful words,he walked out the door.
Out of their lives forever, to be seen no more..
