Disclaimer: I do not own any of these characters.
Just for reference, Rachel Wolfe is Mrs Wolfe. It is not her cannon name. I have just given her one for this piece of work.
Prompt: Write a diary entry from a Wolfe's perspective.
Character POV: Mrs Wolfe (Rachel Wolfe)
Diary Entry Date: After her argument with Clifford (Mr) Wolfe about the bills, Cameron (and Ruben?) overheard them.
Dear diary,
It has been another typical day it seems. Clifford is reading the newspapers again in the kitchen, flipping through the employment sections. I don't know why he is still flipping through it for the sixth time today. I had to flat out tell him that newspapers are no longer allowed on the table during meals, the only time us Wolfes are actually physically together, spending time with another. Those family moments had slowly declined over the years. Sometimes I wish we could go back to those years, when all my kids are still young. Nevertheless, I guess that will just forever be a wistful thought.
Ruben and Cameron are in their room having one of their numerous bedtime conversations. They think I do not know about them, but I do. They are not as discreet about it as they think. I know that they have heard my argument with Clifford in the kitchen, arguing about the bills. I wonder what do they think about us now.
Steve is down in his room at the basement, probably calculating if he had accumulated enough money to be able to move out on his own. I hate that my eldest boy is moving out away from me so soon. He had told us that he had planned to make the move in two years, but Clifford's stubbornness about the bills and his employment recently had pushed him to move up his plans. The two had an argument about it; the whole family had heard it. Both stubborn fools butting their heads against each other. When Steve had finally said that he is moving out over the next few weeks, Clifford was stunned. Everyone was shocked. That declaration had ended the intense argument. I was hoping that those were merely words said in a heated moment, but as time goes on, I had to admit to myself that my eldest boy was not changing his mind about. Steve was serious about moving out. There is no way to sway his decision. I honestly doubt it.
Sarah is out again, for the third time this week. My poor daughter. I wish she will stop tormenting herself, stop drowning her sorrows in alcohol, but I doubt she will listen to me now. She always listens best to her father, just like all my other kids. Even Steve, despite their tense relationship lately.
I guess the day could have turned out even worst. We could have had to resort to borrowing loans from banks to deal with our finances and bills. With Clifford's stubbornness, it is very unlikely that he will heed Steve's suggestion to go to the dole. Very unlikely.
I suppose that is all for today.
Signing off,
Rachel Wolfe
