The No-So-Final Goodbyes

It was the last day of Elizabeth's sophomore year. She was a 16 year old girl and she still had to go to summer camp, which started the next day.

     "I can't believe you still have to go to summer camp at our age! It doesn't seem fair." Rory says. Rory is short for Aurora but she prefers to be called Rory. She's been Elizabeth's best friend since 1st grade.

     "Yea but this year, my mom signed me up for a camp where it looks kind of like a 5 star resort so I think I'll be fine. It's call-"

     "I don't mean to interrupt this conversation, wait yes I do but that's not the point. Anyways, we have to get going or we will be late for the last day of school assembly! Let's go people!" Zander screamed from down the hall waving at Rory and Elizabeth. Zander was also Elizabeth's best friend. Gay best friend to be exact. Elizabeth tells him everything and they have sleepovers almost every weekend.

     "Attention all students, I am pleased to announce that next year we will be building a new school!" All the students clap and cheer. Their school was around even when Elizabeth's great grandparents were alive. That says a lot. The building is old and everyone thought that it would be a good idea for them to raise funds to build a new one.

     The rest of the assembly was fairly boring as Elizabeth recalls. They gave out awards, in which Elizabeth got 2. One for outstanding attendance and the other for maintaining A+ 's all year long. Rory got one award and Zander sadly didn't get any. He was to busy checking out boys to pay attention to school work. But that's just his excuse for sitting at home watching YouTube instead of doing homework.

     After the assembly Elizabeth and Rory went to the bus port to wait for the buses to come. After 20 minutes, all the buses approached the school and everyone threw their hands up in the air, celebrating the first day of summer. Elizabeth sat by herself with her earbuds in listening to music on her phone for the whole bus ride. Zoning out everyone talking around her.

     "Hey Sweetie! How was your last day of school?" Elizabeth's mom asked her.

     "It was pretty good, the assembly was pretty boring though. But I'm going to run upstairs and start to pack for summer camp. What was it called again? Camp-" Her mother interrupts her.

     It's called Camp Ebony. You'll be staying till August so go get packed. The ya will be here at 7:30 tomorrow. Now go!" Her mother said quickly.She ran upstairs to her small Bedroom. It was sky blue room and her bed sheets were dark purple. She had white nightstands with lamps on both sides of her bed and her closet was right across from her bed. She also had a tv on the same wall as her door so she was listening to the tv while she packed all her clothes.

     "Ughhh this is taking me forever," She groans as she's stuffing her suitcases, "Why does this camp have to be so long!?!?"

Eight Hours later

     It's now 6:00 Pm and all Elizabeth's has been doing is sitting on her bed watching tv. But somewhere in the time, she got up and ate and also finished her packing.

     "Liz! It's time to get ready for bed! I don't want you to be late tomorrow, or tired." Her mom yells from the bottom of the stairs. Elizabeth slips into her baby pink Pajama top and black pajama shorts and heads to the bathroom. She then washed her face with her face wash and brushes her teeth. She heads back to her room after to pack her toiletries and jumps onto her bed.

     "I'm not even tired so I'm just going to continue my episode of Pretty Little Liars. Ahhhh Toby is so, so... HOT!" She squeals. She continued to watch PLL until 1:00 Am to where she fell asleep watching it.

Five Hours later

     "Honey, it's 6:00! Wake up" He mother's says while shaking Elizabeth. Elizabeth groans. Elizabeth finally gets out of bed after 20 minutes and decides to get dressed in the clothes she picked out last night. She's wearing a black dress with gray flowers on it, black flats, and a dark washed jean jacket on.She heads down stairs and it's now 6:48 so she decides to make pancakes. At this time, her mother has fallen back to sleep on the sofa.

     She gobbled up Her pancakes, watched some tv, ran upstairs to grab her stuff, cane back downstairs and sat in the chair near the tv waiting for it to be 7:30. It was 7:15 when you mom finally woke up.

     "How come you get to go to sleep! That's not fair! You've been asleep for over an hour." Elizabeth says.

     "Because you had to get ready for camp, I'm allowed to sleep. I'm not going to camp." Her mother says calmly.

      "Whatever" they both end up laughing. Another 15 minutes go by.

     "Liz, It's time to go!"

     "Elizabeth gathers her stuff and starts for the door. "Bye mom! I'll miss you!"

     "Bye sweetheart!" Elizabeth walks out the door and waits outside for the bus to come.
