“So Antonio left you to die here?” Juan asked.
“Dad, no, how many times do I have to tell you that he will come back for us.” Maria sighed as she started to sew some clothes.
“Sorry, I just have a feeling that, this guy will just leave us here.” Maria slammed her hands on a table next to her.
“Dad! Antonio will never do that!”
“How are you sure?” Juan stood up, seriously.
“I’m very sure! I trust him and he promised me!”
“But he’s one of those Spaniards-“
“Who decided to come here and leave the soldiers to help us! Dad, when will you look differently at him?” Maria stood up and left her sewing materials then went outside.
War, that’s what Maria sees ever since the Spaniards came, they changed everything, almost everything. They even took the precious belongings of several families .They also took her grandmother’s precious gold necklace given by her grandfather. At a young age, always afraid but when Antonio came to her life, she taught herself to be brave. Maria sat outside her house for a few hours but suddenly-
“Ate! Are you waiting for Antonio?” Lourdes asked suddenly out of nowhere.
“AH! Lourdes! Don’t scare me like that and no, I’m not waiting for Toni.” Maria huffed out and sighed.
“Then why are you out here?”
“Papa.” She said with a straight face. She didn’t even have to say why, her sister knows her well.

As Antonio walks past the Spanish guards and hides his face under his cloak, he goes inside a very old, small house, under a bridge. There awaits his friend, Lovino.
“Bastard! What took you so long?! I was really worried.” He scolded. Lovino was also part of the Spanish soldiers but he decided that he would go with Antonio.
“Sorry… had a bit of a hard time, trying to hide.” Antonio sighed as he took off his cloak.
“Hey.” Lovino said very seriously. “When are you going back to get Maria?”
“…” Antonio didn’t say anything but he just stared at the wall. But Lovino slammed his hands to the table on front of him.
“ANTONIO!! You’ve been like this ever since you left Maria!! When will you-“ Before Lovino could finish his sentence, Antonio stomped his foot and looked at Lovino with anger.
“Shut up Lovino!! You don’t know how it feels like to leave the person you love alone in a war zone, unprotected!!!” He screamed. “I feel like I left her, just for my escape!!!!” This time, Antonio began to cry. He fell to the ground and began to sob uncontrollably.
“A-antonio! Calm down! Bastard…” He tried to comfort Antonio but he was pushed away.
“Don’t touch me…” he sniffed.
