"Do you promise that you will skype me every day?" My best friend Kimberly said. Her eyes filling up with tears as she spoke. I had never seen her get upset over me before so this was a whole new experience.
"Well, every day might be a bit difficult" I teased. Kim was always sarcastic which bugged me so I liked teasing her, a lot, just to get on her nerves.
She gave me a death glare, and raised her eyebrows. This made me laugh because when ever she wore her hair in a bun and raised her eyebrows, her bun would wiggle like it did now.
It reminded me of when we were young, but her hair wasn't lilac back then.
"Okay! I will!" I laughed, she stared at me blankly untill she couldn't hold it in, Everyone says my laugh is infectious because it is so loud, I guess they are right!
"Please keep that promise!" She blubberd wiping away one lone tear that streamed down her cheek.
"I will" I hugged her now my eyes were becoming watery. I walked over to the taxi, carrying my bag with me.
I could tell my dad was now becoming impatient, he told the taxi driver to beep the horn. I threw my bags into the back and sat in the seat of the 7 seat-er. My bags took up so much space because I owned so many clothes.
It then hit me that I wouldn't be seeing this place for a very long time, I cried as I shut the door and we drove away.
"Bye!" I mimed waving and jokingly blowing a kiss to Kim.
"Why did you take so long?" My brother asked. I ignored him and turned to my phone.
A text from Kim
Don't break that promise...
"Thanks to you we are probably going to miss the plane!" My dad said turning to look at me at the very back of the vehicle. I rolled my eyes and sighed,
"Stop over reacting dad, its 10 and the flight isn't until 12!" I explained to him, while texting Kim back.
I won't.
*At the airport*
I played on my phone for a bit before the plane came, texted a few friends and said all of my goodbyes. I updated my facebook status and tweeted:
Really not looking forward to this flight! Takes over 23 hours to get to Melbourne from here! #dadsstupidjob
While waiting I went to Starbucks in the airport, I bought a strawberries and cream frappiccino and a pretzel. Then I went to another shop and bought a couple magazines and a book that looked quite interesting.
But all of these things weren't enought to last the whole flight.
I dozed off for half an hour, I was rudely awoken by my sister Laurie!
I looked up at the flight boarding times and it was time to board the plane, we ran to the gate. After impatiently waiting for 10 minutes we got on, I didn't bother listening to the safety instructions because I had seen them lots of times before.
The last thing I remember was the flight attendent telling us how to put on our seat belts, before falling into a deep dreamless sleep...
I slept for 6 hours because I didn't sleep at all last night, when I woke up I read my book and finished it in 2 and a half hours. I then ate some pringles that I bought from the flight attendants passing by.
I love pringles, especially sour cream and chive! Eating crisps reminded me of when I was younger at school, whenever me or Kim had a packet of crisps we always used to offer each other one.
I slept for another hour and a half then read my magazines for a few hours, after this I just watched out side ny window, time went so quickly!
Before I knew it I had fell asleep and was woken up by Laurie,
"We are here!" She smiled. She was more excited about this than I was because my dad bought her a house near where our new house was going to be and she was allowed to bring friends.
Being 26 had its advantages.
"Finally!" I rolled my eyes, I didn't want to come in the first place.
Why did my dad have to get that stupid promotion, oh well its to late to turn back now.
Melbourne, here I come!
