Loud music boomed throughout the house. The room reeked of alcohol and weed, the three components were starting to make you feel dizzy and nauseous.
"I'll be back" you mumbled into Rue's ear.
As you walked out of the house and into the backyard, your eyes locked with Maddy's
Maddy. How you missed her. You used to be so close, but now it's as if you were just strangers. Crazy to think about how you to used to be joined at the hip. It was always "Y/n & Maddy" "Maddy & Y/n". Her sparkling eyes, beautiful laugh, and delicate hands always made your insides flutter. She always made you feel some type of way, like everything was right in the world. However, you always brushed it off, you never wanted to think much of it. Nonetheless, when you heard she was dating Nate, that fucking asshole, you couldn't help but fill with anger and jealousy. You always told Rue he didn't deserve her. She was too fucking good for his raging psychopathic ass.
Maddy broke the eye contact once she started undressing. She then quickly held onto a blonde boy's hand as they made their way into the pool. Once they reached the middle, Maddy straddled him and started making out.
She always did this petty shit. She did it whenever her and Nate would go on a break, she was always in scandals like these in order to make him jealous. She managed to accomplish that goal every single time.
You saw them exchange a few words and then saw him slipping his bottoms off as well as hers. You looked around to see people staring and pointing their phones at them, while there were others who couldn't care less.
Panic rushed through you. Even though Maddy was always in scandals, it had never been this public. You knew she'd regret this shit. You couldn't let her do this, even if you were just a "stranger" to her. You just couldn't.
"Fuck" was all you said as you hastily got undressed and dived into the pool. The closer you seemed to get,the more the nerves and anxiety kept rising, but you couldn't stop, not now.
The second you reached them you pulled Maddy, "Hey stranger, we need to go"
However, you knew she wouldn't go without a fight, and were proven right...
"What the fuck, get off me" she spat as she tried to pull away. Her words weren't slurred much, so you knew she wasn't that drunk. However, you also knew that she'd probably still try and blame it on that the next day.
"Maddy, people are staring, let's go"
"Them let them y/n" she said, with a smug smile on her face.
The boy was just quiet and only slipped a few "what the fuck"s has he seemed too dazed to care much.
"Ugh, Maddy, stop doing this shit" you retorted as you started to pull her again.
"Suck my dick"
"Maddy please, c'mon, I'll take you home"
"No"
"Mads, please?"
"Fine, carry me?" She sighed, agreeing at the sound of her old nickname that she loved.
You couldn't help but giggle at how fast her mood had changed, "Of course"
She swam closer to you, wrapping her legs around your waist, loosely hanging her arms around your neck, and resting her head on your shoulder. Your body felt like it was on F I R E. You sighed, you had missed this so much. You missed her.
As you walked up the stairs of the pool you grabbed her and your clothes as well as your shoes from the edge. The walked into the house and up the stairs to look for a room. You knew they'd mostly be taken by teenagers having sex.
Once an empty one was found, you turned on the light, locked the door, and gently placed Maddy down. She cutely rubbed her eyes and grabbed her clothes from you in order to change.
"Wait" you said as you slipped out of the room and into the bathroom. You opened the cabinets and grabbed two clean folded towels. You headed back into the room and locked it. "Here" you said, extending the towel and wrapping it around Maddy.
Her body was already mostly dry, but you still wanted to make sure she'd be comfortable.
"Thank you, y/n"
You both quietly dried yourselves, it wasn't awkward silence, it was just...silent.
As you were getting changed, the silence was interrupted by the sound of bedsheets being tugged. You looked up only to see Maddy starting to lay down. You smiled brightly at the sight in front of you.
"We should start going, I don't want you to fall asleep"
She frowned at your words, "lay with me" she said stretching her hands towards you.
You giggled, pulling her to sit up, "tempting, but no"
She sighed, "fine, but only if I can go home"
"Yeah, that's where I was taking you silly"
"With you"
Your voice seemed to get lost at her words "Umm y y yeah, yeah"
Now, she giggled at you, "you're cute, help me" she stated, shoving her clothes into your hands as she stood from the bed.
You took them and softly smiled. You loved how comfortable she used to be with you. And now, it seemed like nothing had ever changed. You knew you were the only one who had seen this soft playful side of her, you only hoped it was still that way. You hoped he hasn't seen the real her.
As you helped her you could feel your cheeks burning, her skin felt so smooth under your touch.
Once you were both done, she reached for your hand and walked out of the room and towards the front door to exit the house.
You led the way towards your car, held the door open for Maddy and then jogged to your side of the car.
As you drove to your house you couldn't help but feel lightheaded at everything that had just happened.
