"Mummy, why are you upset?" my mum had just gotten off a phone call with someone and by the end of the call she was in tears.

"Jazz, stay here with Gabriel. I need to go out for a few minutes. I'll be back," she handed me her old Samsung galaxy S5 so that I could continue playing the dress up game I enjoyed and she walked out of the kitchen sobbing quietly.

As soon as I started playing the dress up game, I completely forgot that my mum was outside crying. After dressing up my avatar, I turned to Gabriel who was sitting at his spear mint colored desk coloring pictures in a coloring book. I was very confident at how gorgeously I had dressed my avatar so I showed Gabriel so that I could brag. Immediately his eyes landed on the avatar, he burst out laughing and my anger started rising because my ego had been bruised.

Gabriel's laughing turned to gasps for air. He fell off the desk on to the hard tiled floor. By instinct, I grabbed my mum's phone from the floor after it fell from his grasp and I dialed 911. This was a number I had dialed more times than my own age and I was only five years old.

"Hello," I spoke worriedly into the receiver while looking at Gabriel who was lying flat on the floor unconscious.

"What's wrong?" the dispatcher responded.

"Um...Gabriel can't breath and he has fainted. Please help him,"

"What's your name?"

"Jazz,"

"Okay Jazz, an ambulance is on the way to help Gabriel"

"okay,"

"Are you alone?"

"No, my mummy is outside. She is crying but I don't know why,"

"Can you please take the phone to her?" and I rose from the floor. I walked out in to the backyard and called out to my mother. She finally responded and heeded to my call.

"The police man wants to talk to you," I told her while handing her the cellphone. Her eyes nearly budged out after I told her that a police man wanted to talk to her.

"Hello sir," she nervously spoke then ran in to the kitchen as soon as she heard the ambulance siren. She headed straight on the floor and lifted Gabriel up handing him to the medical personnel who rushed him into the ambulance and they started placing him on oxygen. By the time all this was happening, I was standing in the living room watching people rushing in and out of the house. My mum phoned Gabriel's mum to let her know about Gabriel's condition.

"When can we go see Gabriel?" I asked my mum after her call with Gabriel's mum, Miss Roxanne.

"I will let you know," she responded with a frown on her face. Stress lines had by now taken over her entire young looking face.

"Will he be okay?" I asked on.

"He will, Jazz. Don't worry. He is now with the doctors. He is definitely going to be okay soon," she led me out of the gigantic living room to the bedroom we shared.

"I am very sorry I was not there with you and Gabriel. I am sorry for letting you go through such a traumatizing situation by yourself. I should stop letting my personal issues affect you. I promise you will never have to go through something like this again and do not worry, Gabriel is going to be okay," she continued to tell me while I sat on her laps laying my head on her chest and in the process I fell asleep.

Loud voices coming from downstairs woke me up from a dream I was having. I sat up from my bed and noticed it was already dark outside.

"You left my six year old son who has pneumonia with a five year old child. Do not even try to deny it because the officer told me it was a little girl who called in at the station. What do I pay you for? What if something worse had happened to my Gabriel," I heard Miss Roxanne speak angrily raising her voice.

"Miss Roxanne, I am very sorry. I had just stepped out of the kitchen for a few minutes when it happened," my mother replied pleadingly.

"I am sorry Jackie, I can not comprise when it comes to my son's health. He is my only child,"

There was a silence and then sudden movements. I went back to sleep in hopes of completing the beautiful dream I had just had. There I was walking in a forest with Gabriel, as soon as we stepped out of the forest, my eyes were welcomed by orange and yellow colors all over the sky and the sun set hitting the water at the beach. Gabriel ran out in to the beach and I ran after him.

The next time I woke up, it was day time and I was on a bus with my mum.

"Mummy, where are we going?"

"You know how you always wished we had our own home?" she asked me and I nodded. I never knew what it felt like to have a place I could call home. My mum and I were always on the move depending on where she found a baby sitting job.

"Well I found a home for us,"

"Wow," I spoke excitedly. "Shall I still be able to play with Gabriel?"

"No but you can still send him letters,"

"Okay, I will write him letters and send him pictures of our new home," I spoke contented.
