A simple hello

I sit on the railing and watch as the water rushes twenty feet below me.

Mom is gone.
Dad is gone.
The group is acting like it doesn't matter.
So what's left?

I left a note where I know they'll find it in the morning. They'll be fine without me. It's not like I'm the most important person in the group. I'm just the one most people over look or make fun of for my laugh.

I don't need all of that.

It's time to let go.

"Hello."

I turn my head at the sudden greeting.

It's a boy dressed in jeans and a sweater.

"Were you planning on jumping?" He gestures to the water with his head as he steps closer to me and leans on the railing.

"Yeah." I look back down at the water.

"Why?"

"My parents are dead and no one even cares about what's going on with me. I have no one left that cares." I feel a tear trickle down my cheek but I keep staring at the water.

"I care."

I turn back to him and meet his soft gaze.

"If I didn't, I wouldn't have asked."

He picks me up off the railing and sets me down without my consent.

I glare at him but he just shrugs with an apologetic smile.

"People care about you," He says, wiping the tear off my cheek.

"One person doesn't make a difference," I turn away from him so me can't see my face.

"One person can make all the difference you need," he moves my chin to look at him, "you are loved and you do have someone who cares. And I know those things for a fact."

"How do you know that?"

"Because I fell in love with you the moment I saw," he tucks a strand of hair behind my ear, "and we don't even know each other's names."

I can't look away from his chocolate colored eyes.

"My name's Yona," I say without thinking.

He smiles. "Mine's Jin."
