Then, you were paralysed.
Statued in an awkward turn-and-run position as a force cements you in place, a thick layer of dread moulding to your skin like a cold case of clay. The cold and wet sensation of mud running down your throat.
Your stomach sinks as it starts to circle you, coming into view with a grin; pleased with its final product.
You bow your head in defeat when it stops in front of your face, you could smell the rot.
It leans in slowly to your level, trying to catch your eye.
You refused to give it the satisfaction.
A barely audible growl rumbles deep in its throat.
"Fine... be difficult and see where it gets you. Vermin"
The sound of snapping fingers clicks in your ear and the floor abruptly drops out of existence, with you plummeting down like a flightless bird with weights strapped to its wings.
You struggle against a force that's keeping you frozen and brace yourself as best you can for an impact-
Another click echoes into the space.
-that never comes.
A cord quickly straps around your ankles, getting immediate whiplash when you hurl back up into the air.
You shriek a muffled scream.
Time gradually bounces out your cord until you're finally left to hang still. Upside down. In the dark. Emulating a piece of bait that's tied to the end of a fishing line, dangling like food. You keep your eyes squinted. The space feels empty and cold. Lifeless even, but you know what's coming.Something's in here with you.
You squirm and sway side to side like the pendulum on a grandfather clock. You feel like a piñata about to be hungrily ripped apart. The gravity makes you nauseous.
*click*
The rope suddenly feels alive around your ankles. It coils up your leg slightly, teasing to drop you. You shutter. Pleading for it not to.
*click*
The snap of the rope suddenly cracks into your ears and your heart plummets before you fall then splat onto a hard surface mere inches from where you hung, landing on your stomach.
"Hmph!" You get winded. Groaning before rolling onto your side and bringing your knees to your chest. The stone is cold against your cheek. You yearn for it to be replaced with the comfort of your pillow again.
You can feel the presence of the room.
Let the game begin.
You open your eyes to reveal a blurry stone wall. An anticlimactic reveal, but certainly a welcome one.
What wasn't welcome was the sound of multiple breathing patterns. Some grizzled, raspy or just straight up growls echoing off the closed confinement of, what you now realise is a long dark corridor stretched out in front of you.
"Shit" you muttered, lifting your head to stare down the endless abyss of the long stone hallway.
An unwelcome shiver jolts down your spine when the ceiling starts to hum then sparks to life. The heavy-duty lights suddenly bam on in a domino effect. One by one they all switch on and eventually end with the last beam of light on you.
The hallway, It's a prison... a literal prison.
Your eyes flick around the scene, revealing cells bombarding each wall that seem to go up several levels. The occasional cackle or crazed yell coming from within the walls makes you shrink a little. Behind you is a blue door, which looks to be from a hospital. You don't bother trying it, knowing it's just going to be locked.
It likes to tease you with locked doors.
