people say they're fine
because they don't want to have to explain,
explain the pain
that they feel inside
the butterflies that make your
stomach churn,
the feeling that someone is
watching you at every turn
they don't want to admit
that they've been hurt
and that their heart feels as if
it's been stomped into the ground
they say they are fine
just so that they don't have to talk about it,
talk about their
feelings.
