Prologue

I was chained in a dark room and all that I could see was the bricked walls surrounding me. Due to the moss on the walls, you could tell this place was old. I had no idea where I was.. but all I knew was that they were using me as bait. Suddenly the door flew open, the silhouette of the figure was prominent as the moon shadowed over the tall, proud and lifeless creature.

Chapter 1

Natalie:

*Beep* *Beep* My alarm screamed into my ear as I slowly groaned, I lazily reached my hand out towards it, fumbling around to find the off button. Of course with my luck I knock it over, I groaned louder and pulled my body up from the bed. I leaned over and reached for my alarm finally enabling myself to turn it off. I rubbed my sleepy eyes and looked at the time: 6:25 am. I took a deep breath and sighed. Getting out of bed I got ready for my day. Ive spent eleven years at school and I am still not used to waking up this early. I went into the kitchen where I found my mother slaving over breakfast, she gave me a weak smile. She was happy, but after the loss of my brother, and my father having an affair She was really struggling. But Shes trying her hardest to stay strong for the both of us.

Morning mum! I spoke to her. She smiled wider.

Morning sweetheart, how was your sleep?

It was alright. Just hated the waking up.

She rolled her eyes and put a plate on the kitchen bench in front of me. It had an egg sunny side up on two pieces of toast lightly sprinkled with salt and pepper, on the side, there were two pieces of bacon, that were crispy still with a shimmer of the grease.

Thank you mum, you always know how to make the best breakfast!

I went into the fridge and poured myself a cup of orange juice, kissed my mother on the cheek and took my plate and juice and sat at the dining room table. I immediately started eating my food, loving how the yoke seeped out of the egg when you cut it open. After breakfast, I brushed my teeth and grabbed my bag ready to go to school.

I'm off to school mum Ill see you after, okay?

have fun sweetie! she gave me a smile as I walked out, making sure to shut the door behind me. I started walking my way to school, but I was running late so I decided to take a short-cut Id heard about. This was my first time taking this shortcut and I hoped I remembered the mental image of the map I had correctly. I took a left on the sidewalk down an Alleyway and then walked straight, as I was approaching a turn Dominique came blasting around the corner on his skateboard. He slammed into me pushing him forward and forcing me back, he landed on top of me and we locked eyes, his lips were mere centimetres away from mine and I could feel the warmth of his breath tingle my lips. I could feel my face turning red as he got up and scoffed.

Watch where you are going! He looked to the side only to see his spray cans sprawled out across the concrete. His head shot up, and the glare he gave me was enough to make me want to shrink inside myself.

Look what you did dipshit. You better pick them up! He demanded.

I sighed softly, feeling his insult pierce through me. My red face faded away and my cheeks returned to their normal self. I knelt down and started picking up his cans, carefully placing it into his bag, meanwhile, he was staring down at me like he was some sort of anarchic king. My eye caught a note that was scrunched up in his bag and I subconsciously reached for it as my curiosity took over, my need to know only grew as he ripped it out of my hands and zipped it his bag up furiously.

Didnt anyone ever tell you not to snoop?! He snapped as he gave a final push on his skateboard. I rose from the ground and watched him roll away.

Grow up, I whispered to myself.

Finally, I got to school, after much delay, and shoved my bag in my locker. Out of the corner of my eye I could see him approaching, he slammed my locker door shut almost jamming my fingers, causing me to jump out of my skin. I peered over to his friends and felt the pressure rise from beneath me as the smirks on their faces were enough to make me shiver.

Hey baby you free tonight? He winked as he scanned my figure, or maybe Tomorrow? But only if there isn't someone else. I dont like to be kept waiting, Im a wanted man you know. He smirked.

You're not a man, I whispered under my breath.

What was that? His eyes darkened.

UhmI.. I hesitated not sure what Im meant to say.

I mean if youre booked with someone tomorrow we could try Friday, ya know? Or I could spend the weekend at yours, and we could have some fun? He bit his lower lip before twirling my hair with his left middle finger. He was making me out to be a slut and I knew it. I could feel tears tickling the back of my eyes as I took a deep breath trying to hold them back, I stared at the polished hallway floor not saying a single word. Not giving him the response he wanted he growled a bit and hit my locker with his fist before he lifted my head and glared into my eyes, he brought his face closer to mine.

sluts these daysalways so busy.. he moved away and walked next to me, stopping to whisper in my ear.Ill get you one day he then left laughing at his mates, I let off a sigh of relief that he was gone, but soon after I felt a warm stream of tears flow down my face.

Dont spread those legs too much I can smell you from here! one of his delinquent mates yelled, I quickly rushed to the bathroom, I couldnt stop the tears and the hot flush of embarrassment only made it worse. I stared at my reflection in the bathroom mirror and tried to reassure myself Youre fine, your okay, youll make it through through this, school gonna have its ups and downs" over and over, eventually I wiped my puffy red eyes and washed away my pain of being called a slut. I dropped my head at the fact that I had to go to class. Walking in late is terrifying, I opened the door to find everyone looking at me as the teacher drew even more attention my way.

Whats got you so late missy? She only likes me because I get good grades and actually pay attention to what shes saying in class, so I was sure shed understand.

I was helping out in the cafeteria and I got carried away with a conversation, I apologise. She nodded towards my seat and I followed her gesture. After school I dragged my feet home, trying to think of an excuse on why I was late, I was too carried away with what was happening inside my head that I wasnt aware of where I was going. I appeared to be lost. I was in an unknown neighbourhood, apart of town my mother forbid me to enter. I kept walking as it was getting darker and darker and couldnt afford to retrace my steps. I could feel the presence of unwanted energy behind me, and it was following me. I immediately quickened my pace, trying to lose them.

As I turned the corner I started sprinting before I could comprehend what had stopped me I found an arm grabbing me around my waist almost pulling me off my feet, the figure wasnt behind me but next to me. It had covered my mouth before I attempted to scream and told me to shut up and sit still. My heart was racing as I saw the men run past us. When it looked like they were gone he let go of me and I turned to see who it was. I was speechless when I was able to put a name to the figure that had grabbed me.
