Dominique:

I wake up to the sun shining through my old ripped curtains, I groaned as I rolled out of bed and chucked on a random shirt and a pair of shorts that were on a pile on my chair. I walked downstairs to find my dad sitting on the couch with a bottle of rum in his hand, I tried to walk past him quietly without disturbing him. My foot slipped hitting the floor and the boards creaked loudly, I could feel my dads raging eyes on me.

Whatre you doing you little shit? He asked me as he stood up. The bottle of rum was splashing around in the bottle daring to spill. He Staggered towards me... I kept my eyes on the floor too cowardly to look at him.

I asked you a question boy! He yelled, he was now inches away from my face.

Im going to school I whispered.

Youre not going out like that, are you? Your mother would never approve if she saw you right now.. He trailed off my back was flush with the wall my eyes still staring at the floor. He smashed the bottle on the wall.

Get out of my sight! He howled, I knew better than to reply, so I slinked off and shut the door behind me. I grabbed my black bag from the bushes and found my skateboard under the stairs. I rode as fast as I could, letting out my anger that bottled up inside, I turned the corner of the alleyway and some girl appeared out of nowhere banging into me, I fell on top of her.

Look where youre going! I yelled as I stood up, I looked at the girl who I realised was Natalie. I stepped back nearly falling over my spray cans.

Look what you did dipshit. You better pick it up. I glared at her as she picked up my cans and put them into my bag. I saw her hand reach in and I freaked out as I ripped the bag out of her hands pulling it shut.

Didnt anyone tell you not to snoop? I growled at her and flipped her off before riding off on my skateboard. I started regretting It shortly as I was only like that because of my dad. I ended up at the back of the school gym, I used the walls as my canvas and started spraying the walls with my now dented cans. I looked at my watch, it was nearly time for school. I left my half-finished masterpiece intending to finish it later. Before anyone could catch me I slinked off into the hallway. My friends surrounded me and I told them about Natalie denting my cans pretending like I was mad.

Whatre you going to do about it? asked one of my friends earning an agreement from the others.

I dont know I replied not thinking it was that big of a deal.

I say you call that slut out! said another and soon enough I had all my friends' hungry eyes on me. I couldnt say no, I had to do it, they would never have let me live it down. I nodded hesitantly and walked over to her locker. I slammed her locker shut so all the attention was on me.

Hey baby, you free tonight? I scanned her face and soon her body, she didnt look bad but in this situation, looking at her just didnt feel right. I kept going, however.

Or maybe Tomorrow? But only if there isnt someone else. I dont like to be kept waiting, Im a wanted man you know. She whispered something under her breath and I couldnt quite hear it.

What was that?! I glared down at her with a more dominant voice. She gulped and looked at the floor.

u..uhmi she hesitated. I took this as my opportunity.

I mean if youre booked with someone else tomorrow we could try Friday, ya know? Or I could spend the weekend at yours, and we could have some fun? I forced myself to not look at her in a disgusting way, not because she looked bad but because I was disgusted with what I was doing, I instinctively bit my lower lip and forced myself to twirl her hair with my middle finger.

I saw her eyes start to turn a reddish colour, I was hurting her and I did it all because I wanted this fame from my friends. Was this right? She stared at the ground and I knew my friends wouldnt like this outcome so, I growled and hit my fist against the locker before grabbing harshly at her chin and lifted her head. I moved my face closer to hers.

Sluts these daysalways so busy.. I moved away before I decided to add the finishing blow and whispered in her ear.

Ill get you one day. I looked at the satisfied faces of my friends.. sickos absolute sickos I thought to myself before laughing with them.

Dont spread those legs too much I can smell you from here one yelled out unexpectedly, I looked back but she was gone. After class finished I walked towards home but stopping along the way to finish my artwork. It was of a girl hugging her knees with shadows coming down to grab a hold of her as she cried silently. I didnt realise that it had gotten dark so quickly. At least my dad will be passed out by now. I started walking home with my skateboard in my hands before noticing Natalie duck off into an alleyway she looked scared and I soon realised why as these men were following her.

I got on my skateboard and sped off to the other corner waiting for her to emerge, I heard her feet pick up the pace as she raced around the corner. I grabbed onto her arm with my one hand and held my other over her mouth holding her tightly against me. The men looked out onto the street before turning around and leaving the way they came. I looked down at her, she had a mixture of fear and confusion plastered on her face, I looked around the corner to see if those hungry dogs have left, sure enough, they did. I grabbed her hand tightly and took her to her house I stopped across the street, I looked down into her hazel brown eyes.

What the hell are you doing out here at night? Are you trying to get yourself killed?! I growled at her with fear and anger.

Whyd you save me then? she yelled back.

You should go see your mum, shes probably worried sick. I gave her a hard push towards her house and she walked away, I turned around and started to walk away leaving as soon as I could. I sighed and walked back to my house, hands in my pockets. It looked haunted in the dark, no lights on apart from the soft glow from the T.V screen highlighting my sleeping fathers figure. I opened the door and shut it behind me trying to be as silent as I could. I glanced over at him, glass bottles of alcohol surrounded his chair with a bag of chips on his stomach.

His loud snoring caused me to jump, I thought about checking the cupboards for some food but I knew the only shop he ever goes to is the liquor store. I hurried down the hall and went into my room, locking my door behind me. I checked my bag for any food I could eat. I soon gave up as there was nothing in my bag but empty wrappers. I laid down on my bed watching the mould grow on my roof. I pulled out the scrunched-up note that Natalie almost read and opened it up sighing.

It read:

Dear Dominique,

I know reading this is going to be hard for you as I will have now passed on. I know that you and your stepfather dont get along, but I need you to be my strong little boy, for me, for him and for you. I dont want you to lose hope. Keep holding your head up high, I will always miss you, my baby boy.

Love Mom.

I held back my tears and reach down the back of my shirt, pulling out a feather and putting it with the note, next to my bed as I slowly drifted off to sleep.
