"Lucas! Lucas?" yelled Maddie.

Lucas was the only one she could remember who ever brought her happiness, her mom however, she could barely remember.

"Lucas!" she almost gave up, but hope, hope was there, though not an emotion, Maddie could feel it. She called out one more time...

"Maddie? Help! I don't know how I got here!" a voice said.

"Lucas? Is that really you?" Maddie felt happy again, she could feel it flowing through her, her blonde hair turned even blonder. Was that a sign of her emotions going to work? She started to smile, but she couldn't see Lucas.

"Lucas! Where are you?" Maddie yelled. There was no response. Maddie felt confused.

"Wow another emotion." She thought.

"Yes, indeed I am an emotion, anger told me about you, sorry about the illusion, I need to grab your attention. I know, I know, it's weird that we can make you see things to feel our way, sorry I had to do it but someone had to show you, dread will use this often, learn to differentiate. Goodbye." Said confusion.

Maddie started to ponder. What makes her happy? She thought and thought and thought until...

"Cats," she shouted "Cats make me happy!"

She ran back to her house and grabbed her bike, she rode over to the nearest animal shelter. She saw a line, she secured her bike and ran to the front of the line.

"It's never this crowded, this must be an emotion playing tricks on me, but which one?" She thought.

"Ma'am there's a line, you need to wait!" Said a 30 something year old woman with brown hair, brown eyes, and a blue uniform with the trademark yellow symbol.

"You're not real! Just move!" Said Maddie thinking it was an emotion playing tricks on her.

"Honey I bet I'm more real than all you're friends and any relationships you've ever had!" Rebuted the lady.

Maddie sighed and went to the back of the line as she was walking she heard a voice yell to her,

"Don't you dare get an attitude with me! You don't have to come in here!"

Maddie turned around, looked the woman in the eyes and said...

"But I do." A brief silence befell the line of people. "Don't you want to be happy?"

The woman looked at Maddie and back at the crowd, *Sigh* "Come On little girl, sorry folks apparently this girl is more important then all y'all." People started yelling, Maddie felt embarrassed, she soon knew this was all a ploy set up by embarrassment. One by one the people started disappearing all except for the lady.

"You passed this trial, do what you will." Said the lady.

"I knew it was some kind of emotion trying to trick me, so you're embarrassment." said Maddie.

"Yes I am, you are much stronger than I, it makes me feel embarrassed, goodbye, for you used my own powers against me."

Embarrassment flew into Maddie's chest,  Maddie felt more powerful, it was like the video games she'd played but real, she had absorbed and gained the power of embarrassment.

"So when I use an emotions power against them, I get that power, hmmm, nice, now let's go find some cats!"
