About 50 years ago, military-designed robots made by a deranged inventer were let loose in masses all around the world. Shortly after the release, the inventer was shot dead by a group of terrorists from a variety of countries with a vision of conquering the world. They wanted to take control of the countries and saw this as their opportunity to do so. And so, they banded together, taking control of the mindless machines and programming them to kill.

They made shooting targets out of people, creating fear in people. This fear was enough to convince people to join their side, turning them into loyal soldiers. The initial intent of the bots was slowly lost and, soon, their purpose became to eliminate the government and anyone who opposed them. The forces started fighting in their own territories. Allies began drifting apart as the fight for survival began. The true test of strength.

In the midst of the beginning battles, 4,000,000+ lives were lost in total. The lasting survivors soon ran out of supplies and sought out the help of the military forces. Behind every forces' closed doors were groups of people creating more and more machines that they believed would benefit the military. Although there was some skepticism about it at first, the new technical advances proved to be much more efficient and more difficult to hack into with all this hidden information needed to be granted access.

However, with the rate at which soldiers were dying, new ones were needed to fill in the empty slots. The military forces began signalling out to others for assistance. A temporary truce amongst all world forces against a common enemy. Supplies were exchanged as well as new technology. However, the reducing amount of soldiers needed was rapidly becoming a major concern for everyone.

Children who were the appropriate age were immediately trained. Women who were rescued were urged to birth a child whether it be male or female. And as the children grew, whether from the old world or newly born, they would be trained in the forces of the military, medical assistance, intelligence, etc. Along with their daily training when they became of age, they were taught proper academics by the few professors on board the military. In the Japanese military forces, it is stated that when children turn 12, they are given the opportunity to choose a role. These such roles include military, medical, teaching, machinery, artillery, stocking, etc.

While there is importance in each role, if more soldiers are needed, they ask that more kids sign up for the military. And while there's almost always a need for soldiers and everyone is given an opportunity to choose, not all contenders make the cut. This such system is more commonly used when selecting cadets for the military. Those who pass the first selection are placed in groups of around 5-15 and are trained under a single mentor.

During the ages 12-17, the day is split in half with learning in the first half and training in the second half. After that time, the contenders are placed in a year-long survival simulation. The point of the simulation is to get used to real combat. During the simulation, Supervising Officers are in watch of their progress. When a contender goes down in the heat of battle, the simulation makes them experience a realistic death before automatically shutting down. They're removed from simulation and examined before being put back.

However, if deaths become continuous, the contender is removed from the program and placed in an alternative role that they selected before following through with the recruit selection process. After spending hours in simulation, the contenders are given breaks. This continues throughout the year. Their progress is recorded by the Supervising Officers. If a contender is seen showing little progress throughout the span of the year in the simulation, they are dismissed from further training and military assignments.

After the year passes and all the remaining contenders have shown promising results, they are sent out to real combat. Once they're officially part of the military, they start out as Privates. As soon as more military work is done and more years are served, they go up the ranks. And it is said that any soldier who fought with their life on the battlefield died with pride.
