"Can't believe the year is almost over. It went by so fast."

"Yeah."

"Remember when we first started?" Oikawa said before chuckling. "We were total beginners. I kept dying."

A small smile formed on Y/n's face. "I do. I remember getting sniped in the back a few days after the simulation began. I died on the spot instantly."

"You know..."

"Hmm?"

"I always wondered why they allowed us to enter the simulation program only after we turned 18. But...now I know... The deaths are...so realistic... And graphic. It's almost like experiencing the real thing... It's why there have rarely been deaths these past few weeks... We're scared... Scared of experiencing it again... So, now we're treating the simulation as if it were reality... Not like a game like we thought in the beginning..."

"The battlefield is unpredictable... It's why we go through the simulation. It gives us an idea of what the outside world looks like. The dangers... But...even so...there are still things we don't understand..."

"Yeah...I guess you're right..."

Just as Oikawa said that they arrived at the door to the mess hall. "Here. Let me."

He placed his hand on the digital pad before the metal doors opened. "There you are. Where have you been?"

They both looked to see Y/n's younger sister. "Hey, S/n."

"Supervising Officer Hamada told me you finished today's session."

"Relax. I went to go shower."

"With Oikawa?" she asked, raising an eyebrow teasingly.

Y/n blushed, but it wasn't noticeable. "Shut up, S/n."

Oikawa smirked to himself. "He totally wanted to~"

He turned to the shorter male, who was smirking at him flirtatiously. "Please, shut up."

"Well, hurry up and eat. The mess hall isn't open 24 hours, you know?"

"I know," Y/n responded before sitting down at a table with Oikawa.

"You're welcome," S/n put in, referring to the food already set in front of them.

"Thanks."

The beeping of an alarm echoed throughout Y/n's room. He groaned as he opened his eyes slowly. As he sat up, the lights turned on automatically. He got off the bed with a sigh and walked to closet. "It's a new day...and I hate it already..."

He grabbed his uniform and threw it on the bed before going off to the bathroom to shower and freshen up. Once back, he changed and left his room. Just as he got to the end of the corridor, he was grabbed by the arm. "What the-- S/n!"

"Hurry up!"

"Why?"

"What do you mean 'why'? You're gonna have breakfast before you go back into the simulator today!"

Y/n sighed, letting his sister drag him off to the mess hall. After having a light meal, he walked off to the simulation ward. "Good morning, Cadet Y/n."

"Morning."

"Did you have breakfast?"

"Ye--"

"I made sure he did," S/n said, stepping into the room before bowing in respect. "Good morning, Supervising Officer Hamada."

"And to you as well, Cadet S/n. At least one of you shows me respect," Officer Hamada said before glancing towards Y/n.

"In all fairness, I've known you longer than she has. We have a closer connection. I believe there's a time when you can start skipping the formalities."
