I couldn't believe it.
Me; I don't understand. Why did you do this?
Zach; Because she didn't want Martinus and you... together.
Me; Excuse me? Why?
Zach; I don't know. I just did what I was told to do.
My sister came closer to us.
Sister; Zach. Can you leave? I wanna tell her something.
He nodded and he left.
Me; FUCK WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?! I-
Sister; Sit down.
Me; NO. Won't. EXPLAIN ME.
She sat down on the sofa.
Sister; Do you know how our parents actually died?
Me; This has nothing to do with-
Sister; Just answer.

I sat down too.
Me; They... had a car accident?
Sister; And?
I was nervous.
Me; And what?
She sighed.
Sister; You see?
Me; I don't understand.
Sister; You don't know what happened. That's the problem here.
l was... shocked.
Sister; It was Saturday... Nothing out of the ordinary. You were one year old and l was looking after you that night. Our parents had gone out.
She laughed.
Sister; They used to go out every Saturday... It was a part of their life.
Her eyes got wet.
Me; What happened next.
Sister; They-
She wiped her tears.
Sister; They weren't alone. Um... our parents went out that night with Martinus' parents.
Me; They knew each other?
Sister; They used to be good friends.
Some tears fell down on her cheeks.
Me; W-what happened that night?
Sister; They were all drunk... Mum, dad, Martinus' mum and Martinus' dad. But they decided to come home without taking a taxi. They decided to drive.
Me; No kidding.
Sister; Martinus' parents drove. His dad drove and his mum sat next to him. Our parents sat on the back seats. They were driving fast. Some cars were
behind them. Suddenly they stopped driving and... the car behind them, destroyed the back part of the car, where our parents were sitting.
l was crying but I was trying to stay calmed too.
Me; How did Martinus' parents survive?
Sister; I don't know. I don't FUCKING know. They were lucky. But do you know what is unfair here? WHY OUR PARENTS DIED, AND HIS PARENTS SURVIVED?
I didn't reply.
I didn't want to believe it.
