Josh sat on the leather couch, looking around the room as Carson finished the last touches of the stream setup. He expected the house to be much more of a mess, knowing Carson and his roommates Noah, Cooper, and Travis. On the wall were different art pieces that signified Carson's favorite games. He admired them, thinking about how he loves that Carson is such a geek. Josh looked from the art to Carson, and admired him instead.
"You ready?" Carson asked Josh.
"Yep." he replied with a smile that formed after the two had made eye contact.
Carson started the stream and plopped down on the couch beside Josh, grabbing the controller off the table in front of him. He greeted the stream and explained how Josh was visiting him and the boys today, and that the two of them would be playing super mario maker. Carson realized how close he sat next to Josh, feeling his warmth just by their arms touching. He knew Josh realized as well after glancing at him and noticing the red tint that had formed on his cheeks.
The two joked around while playing for a while until Josh had gotten fed up with Carson repeatedly failing a level that he'd learned to beat just by watching.
"Give me this." Josh said, reaching to the controller with a frustrated tone.
"Hey man I'm usin this." Carson responded after moving the controller to the opposite side of him. He continued playing with a smirk, now dying on purpose at jumps that had no obstacles to stop him.
"I cannot believe you Carson." Josh said, trying to take the controller again. Before he had a grasp Carson jerked it away again and held it away from Josh, who was now reaching over him, closing any space they had from eachother. Their faces were inches apart, and Carson's gaze on Josh was obvious.
Josh finally yanked the controller out of his hand and retreated back to where he was sitting, with a nervous smile on his face. He beat the level easily and gave Carson a prideful look.
Carson immediately exclaimed "Since I know you guys don't want to watch this loser play anymore and we have to go to dinner with Cooper, Travis, and Noah soon, we're gonna end this stream here!". Josh jokingly gave Carson a dirty look as he reached for his computer to close out the stream.
The two now sat on the couch together, in each other's presence only.
"So Josh, why'd you turn red every time I looked at you?" Carson asked, turning himself towards Josh.
"Uhh-" Josh stammered. "What do you mean?"
"I mean" Carson said, getting to closer to him. "What you're doing right now."
Josh's heart raced, not knowing if he should confess his feelings to the best friend he's had for years. He felt his cheeks getting warmer and warmer as the silence grew between them, awaiting for Josh's reply.
"Carson I-" Josh started, but was cut off by Carson placing his lips on his. Josh wanted this moment to last forever, to feel the best friend he loved's soft lips against his own. He placed his hand on Carson's jaw as it got more and more passionate. He scooted closer to him, not breaking the kiss.
Carson pulled away, saying "I've wanted to do that since the night I met you, Josh."
Josh's mind went blank, not believing what had just happened. He decided to do the only think that felt right, and interlocked his lips with Carson's once again.
