Dongpyo bolted upright, panting heavily covered in cold sweat. His wild eyes darted around the room to take in his surroundings. Registering that he's still in his own bedroom, he reached for his phone and tapped the first number on his speed dial list.

The phone rang three times before the line picked up.

"Dongpyo?" you answered in a raspy voice, eyes half opened squinting to look at the clock on your bedside table. "Dude, it's 2AM."

"Can you come over?" Dongpyo pleaded in a small, shaky voice.

You could practically hear his pout over the phone and let out a sigh. He probably had a bad dream, you thought. "I'll be there in two minutes," you reply.

You rolled out of bed, practically tripping over your own feet in your sleepy state as you put on a robe over your pajamas. You tip toed to the front door and slipped out of the apartment, groggily dragging yourself to take the stairs one floor down to Dongpyo's apartment.

You somehow managed to enter the passcode to his door even though you could barely see, having forgotten your glasses in your haste to leave. You entered quiet as a mouse so as to not wake up his parents. You made your way to his room in the dark, finding it without even needing to see where it is.

You opened the door and the first thing you spot is a lump on the center of his bed, illuminated by the street light shining through his window. Dongpyo was curled up into a ball underneath his blankets.

Must've been a really bad dream, you assumed.

He's never usually this scared of anything. Dongpyo is the type of guy to walk through a haunted house nonchalantly, trying to make conversations with the ghost actors. There aren't that many things that would cause him to be this shaken up, at least not at the top of your head.

You pulled down the blankets slightly, revealing his watery eyes. "Bad dream?" you asked.

He nodded, hiding behind the blanket again.

You sat down next to him, rubbing circles on his back to calm him down. That trick always worked wonders when you were kids, way back when he was still scared of things like thunder.

"Want to talk about it?"

"In my dream, you said you didn't want to be friends anymore," he started with a whisper, "and then you blocked my number."

You let out a chuckle in disbelief. "That would never happen!" you reacted.

"I just got really scared because you haven't been hanging out with me as much!" Dongpyo defended, poking his head out from underneath the blankets to flash his pout.

You sighed, stroking his hair lovingly. He knew that his pout was your weak spot. "Is that what this is all about?" you questioned.

"You've been eating lunch with Minhee this week instead of with me ... It feels as if I'm being replaced," he whined.

You shook your head fervently. "It's only because Minhee and I are partners for the history project!" you countered. "After it's done, I'll go back to eating lunch with you!"

"Promise?" Dongpyo asked with full-on puppy eyes, another trait that you can't resist.

You held out your pinky finger. "I promise."

"Best friends forever?" he asked, interlocking his pinky with yours.

"I'll always be your best friend, Dongpyo," you affirmed, twisting your hand up to press our thumb against his.

"Can you sleep here tonight?" Dongpyo begged, pulling the puppy eyes and pout combo.

You resigned to his wishes, not being able to refuse him when he looks like such a lost puppy. In the end, you slept on his floor and everything returned to normal when you both woke up for school.

Dongpyo was back to his happy-go-lucky self, and that was all that mattered.
