The two athletic horses clapped their hooves against the thick mud, it splashing in the air as they breathed heavily, heads rocking back and forth as their legs moved rapidly.
The dark brown horse with a white streak across his face belonged to Eren, while the pure black horse belonged to Levi. They were strong, fully trained, ready for much running and fighting. Horses had been humans friends for decades, a relationship that could never be explained.
Harsh rain splashed down onto the ground and thunder shouted angrily in the sky. Levi screamed at Eren, looking over at the slightly tanned man "Keep up!! Keep watch!! Titans are everywhere Eren!!" His throat tightened. Levi was miserable, serious, and showed hardly any emotion, but Eren had seen his other side that no one else had, that's why they were so special to each other.
The younger man held tightly onto the reins of his horse who had mud covered all over him, as also blood stains that were from the corpses that covered the landscape. But then suddenly the unexpected happened. A thing that made Eren's heart thump widely, his eyes shot open and his horse stopped in its tracks, neighing loudly as the long maned stallion panicked.
Levi had fallen off his horse, and titans were coming close. Unfortunately he had been seriously wounded, been hit in the head by the black horse and was hardly breathing, completely passed out as he coughed up blood, the dark red substance running down his skin. A puddle splashed as Eren jumped off his horse, running over to Levi and kneeling down. "You'll Be Okay...Y-you'll Be Okay..." his voice cracked and he gulped hard, slowly picking the other up. No. This couldn't be happening. Eren loved Levi but never admitted it, and he didn't want him to leave. No. It would be fine. He wouldn't die...Right?
After a couple of days, Levi laid in a bed in the first aid area under a large tent, which was filled with thousands of other injured people, some already dead, some dying, kids, adults...Crying, begging. It was awful. A true nightmare coming alive, this world was cruel. Mean. Why did this sort of horrible thing even have to exist? Such grief. Such agony.
Eren had begged the doctors to put Levi by him self though, to give the black-haired man a bit of space. It took a while of convincing but the doctors finally agreed just to shut the man up. He paced into Levi's room. He had a oxygen mask on, a drip connected to him and his eyes looked hazy. Levi was really struggling, but apparently his brain was functioning just fine. The wound has just got infected, and there wasn't much medicine going around.
Eren walked over to the older man, cupping his cheek and he gulped hard, tears filling his eyes. "H-hey Levi..." he took in a sharp breath, gazing at the other. Levi weakly smiled, coughing a little "don't be sad...I'm fine..." he tried to convince Eren to calm him down. "Levi...I...I love you..." Eren finally admitted, he just had to. It was impossible to wait much longer, and who knew what might happen to the black-haired man. It had been kept inside of him for so long now, and it was becoming exhausting to keep back. Eren leaned his forehand against Levi's.
Levi was terribly shocked, and he slowly sat up, his cold hand reaching over to Eren's and holding it tightly "I...I love you too." He gazed up at the other, before laying back down. The doctor said Levi should be back to strength soon, but it made him horrifically worried to see the other in this sort of state. It was truly heart-breaking, and it made his whole world fall apart piece by piece. Eren just wanted to hide away, but yet all this painful stuff that had happened made him realise to not just be peaceful or so naive. It had taught him a lot, but in just the most worst way.
But Eren couldn't believe it. Levi just said it...He loved him...He actually felt that way, The Corporal. Was he really this lucky? Was Levi still semi-conscious? No, that sounded defiantly sincere. But it was just a lot to take in, and tears started to go down his cheeks. He then leaned down, slowly slipping off Levi's oxygen mask slowly before kissing him quickly while also breathing inside of his mouth, just so he wouldn't have passed out as he sobbed, wetting the other's plain white shirt with tears
Levi hummed softly, his eyes filling up with love and he stared at Eren as he slowly pulled away, putting his oxygen mask back on. "I love you so much..." he said softly. "I love you too...Sing for reluctant heroes." Levi croaked, a tear slipping down his cheek as he breathed harshly through the oxygen mask, his chest raising up and down quite fast. Eren saluted, holding his fist against his chest as he nodded "s-sing for reluctant heroes..." he bit over his bottom lip, trying to hold back loud cries of sadness.
A couple to days later, the Corporal was completely better. He was still very tired and run down, and had to rest quite a bit. But he was healthy and back at home. Eren now completely lived with Levi, and most people knew they were together and in love. He sat at the table in the dining room, munching at a apple as he stared out the window. A blue jay flashed past, singing a sweet song.
Eren smiled a little, bit then suddenly he slipped his finger across a kitchen knife was was on the table, slicing his finger and he winced loudly. Levi then rushed in, hearing the younger's cry of pain. "Are you Okay?" He said, concerned as he looked over at Eren, walking over to him and wiping the blood off of Eren's finger, placing a plaster over it.
The younger laughed a bit, looking up at Levi. "Ever since that day you panic about every wound I get...It's sweet". Levi blushed and tensed up, looking away before slowly kissing his cheek. "That's because I don't want to lose you..." Levi said lowly, before kissing Eren deeply and running a hand through his thick hair and then pulling away.
"You won't ever lose me." The younger stood up after the kiss, rubbing the sewn symbolised patch that was on Levi's jacket with his hand and kissing across his chin. Everyday they were both terrified of either dying, especially Eren ever since that thing occurred with Levi being so close to death. But everything was fine now, well the world wasn't. But when was it? They were in love, and that was all that mattered.
