(shack ^^)
When Adrik speaks russian, it will be in italics, in english.Who could it be?
All of a sudden, a cold flush spread through my body like wildfire, my body shaking slightly. I didn't dare look up. The person who stood above me growled lowly, his voice raspy like gravel.
"What the fuck are you doing on my property, huh?" His words hung thickly in the air, silence overtaking the atmosphere. All I could hear was my heart beating rapidly, I wondered if he could hear it too.
"I asked you a question, now answer it!" he spat, pushing the muzzle of the gun against my head, causing me to fall on the sludge below me. My hair fell from around my face, exposing my bruises and scratches that lay on my skin.
He dropped the pistol so it hung by his waist, he stared at me with dark eyes.
"The hell happened to you?"
"I-I was in a fight at school a-and I got beat up," the words seeped from my mouth, shame taking over me as my body shook more. I was worried if he knew the reason I was beat, he would kill me right then and there.
"Come with me, I can fix you up," he said as I quickly complied, or attempted to.
As I began to push myself from off of the ground, my legs wobbled beneath me and I ended up on all fours, groaning as pain shot through my legs and torso. He walked over to me, picking me up by the back of my shirt.
"If you don't fucking walk I will leave you to rot with the cane, at least crawl."
Now those words scared me shitless, even made me walk a little bit straighter than before. I didn't even think twice or have half a mind to speak back, and that just proves how weak I am.
He walked me into this old shack, it was quite nice on the inside, it felt very homey and the smell inside was like dense fog. There was a small tv that was shelved near a small kitchen table.
"Sit down," he spoke, his gaze staring assignably at a brown couch that was placed against a wall.
One second he was cruel, dangerous, brash you could say but next he was caring. I didn't understand why he wanted to help me at all, he could've left me to rot.
My phone buzzed in my pocket, the screen displayed Nicolai's name. I huffed, and answered it, as I cautiously made my way to the brown couch.
"Nicolai?" I questioned.
"Where the hell are you, the school called and explained your absent." Nico ushered out, voice low. I know I'm in trouble.
"I um- I got into a fight, I'm in the cane fields nearby, but i'm ok, I really am!" I replied, footsteps coming from one of the rooms, the guy came in with a first aid kit.
"Ok Adrik, but promise me this won't happen again. I'll track you down at three o'clock and pick you up." Nico sighed, I could tell he didn't want to deal with this.
"Ok, and I promise you this won't happen again." I took the phone from my ear and hung up, sighed and closed my eyes.
"What's your name, kid?" His voice came out low, raspy.
"U-Um, Adrik," I stuttered out.
"I'll help with the scratches, but then you have to get the fuck off my property."
I took in his features as he cleaned the cuts on my arms that were probably caused by running through the cane. His dark, curly brown hair hung prominently around his face, his jawline was sharp too. He had tan skin, fitting for his dark brown eyes which looked a lot brighter now than when I first looked at him. He was poking his tongue out from the corner of his mouth, I suppose from pure focus.
"Can I roll up your sweatpants to check your legs?" He asked, giving me the same blank facial expression and bored tone of voice. He really seemed emotionless.
"Yeah," I covered my face with my hands to hide the embarrassment of all the bruises that stained my legs.
He slowly pulled up my sweatpants, attempting not to hurt me but my legs hurt too much. I whimpered at the contact of the sweatpants bunching up near my knee, but I got over it.
It was pretty obvious that I sprained my ankle, you could tell by the skin, swollen and surrounded by bruises. I felt a sense of security as he wrapped up my ankle to stop too much movement from occurring.
He ended up cleaning all of my cuts and bandaging my hand, I thanked him.
"You know, you didn't have to do that?" I admitted.
"Mhm," is all he said, his eyes piercing into my face as he lit a cigarette that hung from his mouth.
It reminded me of when my father would beat me up, and next morning look at me emotionless almost like the bruises on my skin weren't ever there or caused by him. Pissed me off matter-of-factly.
My phone buzzed in my pocket, Nicolai's name popping back onto my screen.
"Yes?" I sniffled.
"I tracked down where you are, you better get your ass out the front now because I know who goes there and he is trouble." I have never heard Nico's voice so low and serious before.
"Uh, ok i'll be out in a minute."
"Adrik, it better be less than a minute-" I cut him off by hanging up the phone.
"Who was that calling?"
"Um, a family friend," I said awkwardly.
"Well, tell him the only fucking trouble is him, now get out of my property." I nodded immediately.
And after that, I ran as fast as my body could take me. The mud beneath wasn't helping either, I kept slipping every so often and my foot was hurting more than ever.
The fence was in view, and it looked deadly. I didn't think my body would take it but Nico's car was right there so I began climbing.
As I jumped over the fence, and landed on the other side, I heard a loud crack beneath me. Realising what the noise was I screamed, my ankle had legitimately snapped.
Nicolai quickly jumped from out of the car, running by my side. He dialled emergency services and explained the situation.
I tried so hard not to focus on the pain, my arms clutching my ankle, rocking back and forth. But shock overtook my body as I passed out. The last thing I heard was:
"He-he's going into shock-"
before the world around me went dark, my vision and senses wasting away.
