SH: thanksgiving

 Cole POV:

"Lili, Cole, we're about to start the thanksgiving dinner," I hear Lili's mom call out from downstairs. "And, done," Lili says finishing her very light make up look. "You look beautiful as always my love," Lili's wearing a fuzzy, mustard-colored sweater with comfy black leggings and she let her golden locks down. She gets up from the vanity that was sitting in the corner in the bedroom and walks over to me as I wrap my arms around her waist and stroke her back gently with my arm as she cups my face with her hands and looks up at me. "I never thought I'd have a boyfriend who would compliment me so much," she says to me. "I could compliment you all my life and it will still never be enough," I speak right before leaning in for a passionate kiss which turns out into a 20 second make out before we hear a knock on the door and immediately pull away. Lili steps a couple of feet away from me and yells, "Come in," in her very sweet voice. The door cracks open with Lili's younger sister, Tess's head popping out. "Are you guys coming or what?" she chuckles at us. "Yeah Lili was getting just ready, we can come downstairs now". I say scratching the back of my neck before flicking the light off and Lili and I  walk downstairs hand in hand to see all of Lili's family members about to sit down and all the food laid out on the table. Just in time.

Lili POV:

We all sit down on the table with Cole on my right, obviously. The chair on my left was empty as there were no more people. I see Cole shaking his leg from side to side underneath the table which explains that he is nervous. I take his hand that was previously sitting on his lap and place it on my thigh and give it a light squeeze. "Hey, it's gonna be alright," I whisper to him and he nods at me giving his heart eyes and takes a sigh of relief. He keeps his hand on my thigh and rubs it occasionally and makes me feel really calm. The truth is, I'm so so so excited for this dinner because I have a surprise for Cole that I can't wait to reveal!

While everyone is settling down, Adeline, my 2- god-daughter is tugging onto Cole's gray sweatshirt. I smile at Addy and then at Cole as he picks her up and set her on his lap. It's crazy how over the past 4 days, Addy has become so close to him. It simply shows how good he is with kids and I can't wait to tell him that he is going to be a father. 

We all are at the dinner table as my dad pour Pinot Noir into everyone's wine glasses which we will be drinking from when the dinner officially begins, but I am obviously not going to drink it. Everyone is just talking about random things and I notice Cole just having a good time with Addy while talking to her. "Alright everyone, why don't we begin with what we're all thankful for. Addy, what are you thankful for?" Sarah, Addy's mom asks. Addy pauses for a while and looks around the table. " Coley!" She says out loud while pointing at him. Everyone starts to laugh and coo over it and my heart melts as Addy says that. "Awww, thank you, Addy!" Cole answers back to her and gives her a kiss on the cheek. "Okay, who's next?" Sarah asks the entire table. "Uhhh... Lili!" Addy says out loud. Cole smiles at me, "Go ahead love," he whispers while stroking my thigh with his thumb. I look around at the table and take a deep breath. Okay, Lili, you can do this. I say to myself in my head. "Okay, I'm thankful for all the 9 people sitting on the table here," I say, smiling wide, ear to ear. "Bub, there are only eight, you're mom, dad, Chloe, Tess, addy, Sarah and Scott {AN:(addy's dad)}," He gives me a confused look. "Nope, count again, there are 9" Addy begins counting again while Cole does not stop looking at me. 

Cole POV:

Just then, Addy had gotten off of my lap to go get her stuffed animal from her room. I continue to just look at Lili, thinking about why is she saying there are 9 people on this table when there are really only 8. Until it finally hits me. "Lils, are you..." I whisper, and before I could finish my sentence, Lili nods enthusiastically with a huge smile on her face and tears forming in her eyes. I immediately pull her into a hug as we both get up off of our seats. Her head rested on my shoulder and mine buried into the back of her neck while we both cry out in happy tears. Everyone has a confused look on their faces and were just puzzled. 

We both knew that we really wanted kids together and spending the past 4 days with Addy made me really want to have a baby even more. But I just wanted Lili to be ready first because after all, it's her body and she needs to be prepared mentally as well. We pull away from our hug and laugh a little as we realize that we both are a sobbing mess. I plant a sweet kiss on Lili's forehead, still crying and in shock and arms wrapped around Lili when Chloe asks, "Guys, what is going on?" Lili and I turn towards the rest of the table and all eyes are on us. "Well," Lili begins looking at me and then back to all the others, "I guess there is a 9th member coming to this family,"  Lili reveals while smiling wide. "OH MY GOD!" Chloe and Tess scream out while coming over to me while Lili goes and hugs her parents. 

After that, I go over to Lili and her parents and her dad immediately pulls me into a big hug and I hug back. "Still waiting on your surprise" Lili's dad whispers in my ear and I give him a smirk. Truth is, I'm proposing to Lili in the most beautiful way possible tonight. 

Lili POV

After dinner, we all are just sitting around in the living room and sharing stories from our childhoods. My legs are spread across Cole's thighs and my head is against his chest. One of his hands is on the headrest of the couch and one is on my still flat belly. We all are just laughing at some dumb joke that Tess cracked when my Dad says, "Lili, Cole, you guys mind taking Delilah [AN: Lili's dog] in the backyard for a while? She hasn't gone out since morning since we all were busy for Thanksgiving dinner." Cole makes eye-contact with me dad but I think nothing of it. He turns to me as I nod my head yes. I really wanted to speak to Cole alone ever since I told him, and this was the perfect opportunity. He gets up from the couch and held out his hand for me to hold it. I get up and straighten out my sweater while Cole goes and grabs our coats as it gets even colder at night. He helps me wear my coat and I see Chloe putting on the leash warm sweater on Delilah. Cole takes Delilah's leash from Chloe in one hand and holds mine in the other and we walk to our backyard.

As soon as we close the door to inside the house, very pretty filament lightbulbs turn on and are all over the backyard. "Chloe, Tess and I did it... considering it was Thanksgiving, we wanted to it." I smile at him as he blushes. Our backyard is pretty big and fenced so we let Delilah just play around on our own while Cole and I go sit on the bench swing. "How long have you known?" he questions me as we interlock our fingers. "A week," My eyes widen as she says those words. "I'm so sorry, I wanted to tell you when I found out in LA, but then we had plans to come to Cleveland for Thanksgiving so I thought why not tell you here?" He simply leans in for a kiss after my reply. 

"Are you happy?" I ask him. "Baby, what makes you think I'm not? I'm so so so happy. I knew I wanted to have a family with you ever since we started dating because you were it for me. So thank you, for making this the best Thanksgiving ever. I'm so thankful for having you in my life and our baby. I wouldn't have it any other way. Lili, you've seen me at my worst and still stuck by my side, always comforting me when I didn't even know I needed it. All those nights we just sat in our living room with blankets around us and watching movies, Paris, Mexico, Hawaii, our photoshoots, filming Riverdale, just every single moment I've spent with you has been the best moments of my life including right now. I will never forget the day we snapped back at the 'reliable sources' for saying we broke up. Whatever I do for you, will never do you justice for all the love you have given me. So Lili Pauline Reinhart," I now get down on one knee on the ground, and pull out a blue Tiffany's box and opened it with a ring inside. Lili is still sitting on the swing, but now crying as I continue, "I promise to always continue to love, protect, keep you safe and always try my best to keep you and our soon to be born baby happy. Will you marry me, my love? and make me the happiest and luckiest man alive?" 

Cole POV

I realize that tears were streaming down my face. "Of course I'll marry you baby!" She screams out loud as I slip the ring on her finger as she stands up and I do too. She immediately crashes her lips onto mine and throws her arms around my shoulder as I place mine on her waist. "I love you the most" I whisper as soon as we pull away and she mouths it back to me. Truly the best thanksgiving ever.
