"Mom, I'm home!" I called out as I walked through the front doors of our new house. I tossed my backpack down onto the floor by the door and kicked off my shoes.
"Hi sweetie! How was your first day of school? Did you make any new friends?" My mom came rushing down the hallway, putting in her earrings in as she talked.
"School was great, Mom! I made two new friends and I'm so excited about my Creative Writing class!" I said as I gave her a hug. I laid down on the couch and smiled.
"I'm glad you had such a great day! And today, you and I are going to go inspect a new Italian restraunt down the street!" she said, then she kissed my forehead and started walking towards the kitchen.
"Italian, huh? No way is there an Italian restraunt better than your cooking." I smiled at my mom and thought about what happened today. James and Amanda seemed really cool, and James was really cute! I couldn't believe I had already made two friends on my first day of school.
I grabbed my backpack and pulled out my poetry notebook. I opened it to a blank page, grabbed my purple pen, and started writing,
Staring eyes and unknown faces
Diffrent people, diffrent places
I'm standing here, all alone
I'm scared and on my own
Then I saw a friendly face
And for once I wasn't out of place
I saw potential, not an end
I saw someone to be a friend
I closed my notebook and put it in my bag. Then, I went to get ready for dinner.
