It hadn't been that bad, it had been horrible. Jenna could feel sorry for her Mom if she was the kind of person to think things through. But someone had seen fit to birth her to the impulsive kind of woman.

The two of them had walked into the hardware store on Main. The instant her mother's eyes lit up Jenna knew she was in for it. She let herself be dragged around looking here and there while listening to her mother say. "Oh don't you think that will look nice in the..." and "that would look lovely in the..."

She said all this before turning on the sales assistant who had been following them around like a puppy. "Do you have this in a darker color?"

"Depends on the size you want ma'am" he shrugged.

"Size?" Mom's brow furrowed in confusion.

"Yea we got your 32, 58s, and standards."

She blinked those grey eyes up at the sales man, her face clearly conveying she had understood nothing he had yapped to her. "We just want a sink." she said.

The sales man rocked back on heels clearly at a loss for what to do, throwing "help me" glances Jenna's way. "Mom?"

Jenna stepped over to her and tripped over her own feet. She pitched forward nearly falling on her face if the sales guy hadn't been quick enough. "Sorry, those legs just came out of no where huh." she knew he was teasing but to Jenna it was no joking matter. She was forever being clumsy and tripping over this that and other things that just didn't exist.

"yea," she forced her tone to be civil. "they do that a lot."

"Then it's lucky I was here to catch you." Jenna's eyes narrowed at the guy. Was he seriously flirting with her in front her mother? By the way he was looking down at her, yes he was. Ick, the man had to be at least in his thirties. Beer belly, early balding, live in his mama's basement looking type.

She shook him off hard not giving him a choice in whether he let her go or not.

"Yes." Jenna heard her mother say in a polite voice. "It was lucky you were there to catch my daughter." Jenna looked up just in time to see the surprise run across the man's face followed by the shock.

Jenna understood what was going on in his mind; her mom was stunning and most times, especially before everything happen she and her mom were constantly called sisters. And if Jenna hadn't saw the picture of her mother holding a bundled up her she could believe they were indeed sisters. The sales assistant stepped back at seeing his mistake and was off and away like fire danced at his heels.

Mom grabbed Jenna's hand and hauled her from the store. "Maybe this wasn't such a good idea." she bit a lip looking out the window.

No it wasn't. Did she know how long she had been little more than a shadow the past few years. Being out was good for her. "We just took on to much." Jenna said. "Maybe we should go to the book store and pick up some magazines and get some ideas."

Her mother nodded her confidence that had been there earlier was beginning to fade. Fear and determination gripped Jenna's heart. She's trying so hard, all she needs is another push. "I read once that if you find an item you like, most people center the theme of their home around that object." Jenna helped. "Like shells and china plates, some people like flowers."

"We haven't been to the beach in years." her mother brushed the idea away, her daughter's idea going over her head. "You're too incident prone to be around china Jen, Flowers make me sneeze." her delicate nose wrinkled. "I did see an antique store a few blocks over." she squeezed her lip again bringing the red back into them.

Jenna's heart sank. Antiques meant; delicate, old , and could be expensive objects. Delicate objects all pressed and grouped together for people to pick through. It was the last place she wanted to go, that she needed to be. The mere thought of the incidents that were sure to happen had her shuddering in her seat. But sure enough she heard the optimism in her voice. "I think that's a good idea mom."

She smiled again, proud, like the idea had been all hers in the beginning. "I think so too."

She rolled out the parking lot her excitement once again ignited, the mission was back on.
