Chapter song

When they reached the dorm after practice, the dusk was stealing the twilight crimson of the sky. The spring breeze caressed their skin as they walked into the mayhem of activities inside. But all the murmurs, the chatter seemed to be focused on one single topic; the Sing Off tomorrow. Shu glanced at the common room, the place usually occupied by Ryuji and his gang was empty, hinting at their late practice sessions. Shu bit on his nail, wondering if this was all a bad idea after all.
"Hello!" One of the guys from class E walked forward, "Heard you guys are having the sing off tomorrow."
Valt grinned, "Yes! I'm so excited," He gushed. "We're going against one of the best in the whole school!"
Valt's declaration tightened the knot in his stomach. He had worries about this wish, what if they lose? What if Ryuji asked something inappropriate? After the incident last night, Shu knew the boy knew no bounds. Could he handle the shame? Wakiya bumped their shoulders together, calling for his attention. "You alright?"
Shu nodded with a smile, "Yeah. Just nervous."
"It'll be fine," He assured, brushing his fingertips over his white locks briefly before following Honcho and the rest to the kitchen.
After dinner the team gathered in the dorm getting ready for the night. Shu sat on his bed, feet tucked underneath him as his eyes idly stared at a spot on the floor. "Hey Shu," Honcho called, walking over to his bed and sitting beside him. Shu turned.
"Yes?"
"If you need water or anything at night, wake one of us up, okay? Don't go alone."
Heat crept up his neck. He had gotten so used to taking care of himself all these years that it was almost embarrassing to hear someone else doing it for him. Shu let out a surprised laugh, "Thank you, Rantarou. And-" He started, hesitating as he stole a glance at Wakiya. "Uh... well, I actually have a bad case of night terrors. So, I'm sorry if I scare any of you in advance." He kept his voice nonchalant, not wanting to shed light that there was a serious reason behind the nightmares. He was not ready to reveal anything besides the fact that he was having night terrors. Besides, they didn't think having nightmares were not that weird of a thing. Was it?
He noticed the shadow of confusion passing over Honcho's eyes before the lines cleared in understanding of his hesitance and privacy. "If I hear someone screeching in the middle of the night, I'll remind myself it's not Anabelle terrorizing us."
Valt gasped, "Don't mention that doll here Honcho!"
Wakiya tsked, "You guys actually believe in that stuff?"
"Says every horror movie protagonist ever before the ghost comes to play," Keru added, walking over to Shu. The puppets bopped his nose earning a chuckle from the albino. "If you need anything, just tell us," Besu said.
Shu nodded, "I'll keep that in mind."
Wakiya shrugged, dropping himself back to the comfortable mattress, "Well, I'm out for the night." He fought back a yawn, glancing at Shu as the others dropped into their own beds, the day's exhaustion settling in. Shu pulled on the covers, curling under the sheets as Honcho turned off the lights.
Shu stared into Wakiya's sapphire eyes as the other whispered a gentle good night. A breath so quiet that Shu was sure others didn't hear it. Shu flushed, pulling the covers to his face as he meekly nodded, slipping his eyes close.
