Once we got Jax settled down, and by settled down I mean restrained to a bed in one of those special rooms with Nyx laced in it, I went to my room and slept for sixteen hours straight. Soraya also slept a record-time, and we both woke up somehow still tired and groggy.
Right now, we were sitting in the surveillance room, sipping our n-teenth coffee and gazing at Lidia in a 'what now' expression as she called us down a few moments ago.
"So, while you guys were sleeping, I tried to figure out how to get Jax back," Lidia started.
I lifted my hand. "Yes, Eve?" Now she was looking at me with a 'what now' expression.
"So banging his head against stuff did not restart his brain, correct?" I asked, just checking.
"No, he is still purple-minded. He has a concussion now though," Lidia explained, apparently coining his mental situation purple-minded. I would have told her how creative I thought that was, but she continued without waiting for a response, "Anyways, he also has that metal piece implanted in his neck, so we can safely assume that whatever causes him to be purple-minded, it connects with the piece."
"So remove it," Soraya suggested, saying my own thoughts aloud.
"I would, but it connected to the top of his spine. If I simply rip it out of him, there is a large chance he would become paralyzed neck down."
Soraya repeated as her eyebrows rose, "Neck down?"
"At least he would have his mind back, though," I murmured on the side.
"That would be the last case scenario. And when I say last case scenario, I'm talking about years of experimenting and trying out different stuff. I need to find a way to take it out without compromising his nervous system," Lidia said, tapping her chin with a finger. There was a silence for a minute or so before I decided to break it.
"Well, I'm going to go to the kitchen and eat breakfast. Who's with me?" I asked, looking over to Soraya.
"Me. I'm so hungry," She said like I knew she would.
Lidia sighed, gazing at us with a disappointed expression. "It's three o'clock in the afternoon."
"Exactly, and breakfast is the first meal of the day," I pointed out, "So see you, Lidia." Grabbing Soraya's hand, I dragged her out of the room with me. As soon as we stepped out, however, an alarm rang through the building, similar to a fire alarm. We peeked our heads back into the surveillance room.
"Lids?" Soraya asked, and I spotted her furiously typing away in front of a screen.
Lidia ordered, "Yes, suit up. There's been a bombing."
"Oh don't tell me it's Psychotic Paradox again," I groaned, returning to the room with Soraya since breakfast seemed to be canceled. Lidia ignored my complaint and instead chucked the red suit at my head.
Soraya sighed as we pulled on our red suits, ditching our clothes but leaving on the underwear. "Can't they give us a break?"
"I know right? So rude of them," I mumbled under my breath, sending a hand through my hair. I followed Soraya to the wall as she tapped a hidden button. It pushed out a shelf full of weapons. Grabbing the knife and strap, I wrapped it around my wrist. We both took out an earpiece and placed them in our right ears.
"Where are we going?" I asked before we ran out of the room.
Lidia rushed. "A mall. I sent the coordinates to your Talkers, they'll take you there. Now go!" Soraya was already in hawk form and flapping her wings in the direction of the elevator. I was next to her, using my flight to get there quicker. We stumbled into the elevator and impatiently waited until it took us up. As soon as we were out, we took up into the sky. Iris directed me, and Soraya followed me in her hawk form.
