Awakening

(Day time)

Laurel wakes up on an operating table surrounded by machines and tools but no doctors. She stands up and leaves the room

"Hello there," Laurel turns around and sees a strange lady wearing all pink..

"What's with all the pink?"

"That's the first thing you say to your guardian angel. I expected a who are you or maybe a hello."

"Guardian angel? So you belong to the psych ward I'm guessing, that'll explain your choice wardrobe."

"Funny but I really am an angel. I can prove it but you've got other problems to work out. I mean besides that surgery you're going through. Broken ribs I presume."

"How do you know all that? You're a doctor?"

"No, I've been watching."

"Sure and what other problem are you talking about?"

"For one, you're actually having surgery right now and this is just your astral body."

"My what?"

"Your body is currently down the hall. Four doctors in total are fixing those broken ribs and other injuries. You know when he brought you back I thought he'd at least heal the injuries you suffered before dying."

Laurel takes off down the hall and slowly starts to panic. She places her hand on the door and freaks out when her whole arm goes through the door. She pulls it back and says, "What the hell?"

"In this state you're nothing but a projection. You got questions and I'm here. Ask away."

"Who brought me back?"

"Gabriel."

"You mean the archangel?"

"Yes, only archangels are capable of bringing people back from the dead and yes we other angels can but it's extremely hard. Also before you ask, no, he didn't give you these powers."

"Then who did?"

"God."

"God, why did he give me powers and order my return."

"I don't know. He doesn't exactly talk to any of us. We know because of Jezel, he is the only angel that God talks to. Any other questions?"

"What's Heaven and Hell like?"

"Everyone gets their own personal heaven however hell is well hell. Trust me, you don't want to end up down there."

"How do I control these powers, I mean I don't even know I turned them on."

"That's kind of a side effect of the alcohol. Stop drinking and your body won't reject the power. You can also communicate to others that were brought back by Gabriel. A little warning though, people may think you're dead when you're using this ability. Don't worry I asked Gabriel for a favor so you're good this time."

"So Johnny gets the power to see into the future and I get this. Seems unfair."

"Not really, after all he can't control his powers, they're random. Also you have another power but you just haven't unlocked it yet. Give it time and you'll be as powerful as me."

Next scene

Shadow arrives at skyscraper and makes his way inside carrying two duffle bags. He flashes his badge to the guards before making his way into the elevator. Once inside he heads up to the twentieth floor.

"So you're finally here, how you like the place so far?" A woman says as she turns the corner. "You're still not talking to me, c'mon I told you I was sorry. I didn't mean to get you shot, twice. Fine then just listen up. I managed to hook this place up a while back. It has a total of fifty floors and between floor twenty and fifty all belong to us and our prisoners and guests. Starting tomorrow you'll need a special key card and I'll throw in facial recognition hardware. You know, just in case. We'll be working with some rookies from the academy for the week so try to be nice. I'll pick them up later. Follow me to your room." She pushes him back into the elevator and the two head upwards.

The two arrive on the fiftieth floor, "All of this is your room, now get off and don't disturb me."

Shadow gets off and places his bags against the wall. He circles the room before sitting down on the couch. A newspaper on the glass table catches his attention so he picks it up and begins reading

Hospital scene

"So how am I supposed to turn on this ability?"

"It's called Astral projection and all you have to do is meditate."

"So, what's your name?"

"It's Ariel and I think it's time you go see your body."

"I'm having surgery right so does that mean I can't wake up now."

"Go right ahead and look inside."

Laurel slowly walks through the door and her eyes widen as she sees her body on the table cut open.
