What? What just happened? Did Makoto die? In the middle of his execution, Alter Ego just... saved him? I decided to talk to Kyoko about it. 
"Hey, Kyoko!" Kyoko was taking in the situation when she noticed me. "Oh. Hello, y/n. Did you want to talk about Makoto's 'execution'? It seemed rather strange that he survived it. Stranger still that Alter Ego, of all people, saved him." Kyoko was also confused, it seemed. 
"It looked like he fell into a hole. Do you know where that hole leads to, by any chance?" Kyoko paused and told me "I was going to explore the basement. He might be there. But I'm not sure. Here." 

New Item: Master Key!

"Huh? What's this key for?" I started to inspect it until Kyoko explained it. "I found it in the principal's office. It's a key that gives people access to everywhere. I guess. It'll probably give you entrance to the basement. Good luck." With that, Kyoko left me to fend for myself. How she found the principal's office is a mystery. Heh, probably why she doesn't tell us her ultimate. She's probably the "Ultimate Mystery" or something. 
I kept on thinking of random things until I found the door to the basement. I braced myself and went in. 

New Location Found: Basement!

I climbed down the stairs to ascend to the basement. The basement itself was... dark. I started to yell Makoto's name. "Makoto?? Hey, Makoto! It's me, y/n!... Makoto?" After wandering around for a while, I just decided to head back upstairs.

I was walking around the first floor and decided to enter the data center. The Monokuma door always interested me, and while looking for Makoto, why not look inside? 

Once inside the data center, I checked if anyone was around. The only person inside was... Hina. Damnit. "Hey, Hina..!" Hina turned around and saw me. "Oh! Hey, n/n! What's up?" I quickly made up a lie to tell Hina. It was partially true. "Hina! I saw a box of donuts in the kitchen! There're only three left when I last saw it! There may be more!" Hina's eyes lit up. "Really?! Well then, I'll see you later!" Hina ran faster than I ever have in school.

I pulled on the Monokuma door. It won't budge. I pulled on it with all my might, and it opened. It was heavy. Once I pulled it to its max, I quietly looked inside. It was some kind of control room. Probably for Monokuma since the door looks like him. There was a person inside the control room. It looked like...
Makoto...? No... that can't be Makoto... it doesn't look like him. He... 
The boy in front of me had a weird-looking jacket. Half black and half white. He had a small crown on for some reason. I breathed out and whispered out "Makoto...?"

The boy turned around. The boy looked like Makoto, but his eyes... one of them was his normal eye color, and the other was a blood red. The boy smiled maliciously. "Ah, y/n! What a pleasure to see you!" I was scared. "Are you... the mastermind?" I inched towards the exit. Makoto rushed to me and gave me a bear hug, limiting the movement of my arms. "Oh, sweet n/n... I am the mastermind! You found me out! But don't worry. I would never dream of hurting you!" While he was hugging me, he closed the door.

                                                                               Dialog... Start!

"Why are you doing this?..."

"The world is too peaceful. Doing this would cause the world to lose all hope!"

"But why?! Why do this to the people you were defending and trying to save...?"

"Because seeing the despair on people's faces makes me feel hope...! Including your despair, love!"

"Don't call me 'love'! Speaking of love, why do you love me?! Nothing about me is interesting! Not even my ultimate!"

"... being the Ultimate Journalist isn't boring, you know."

"Tch. You're just saying that to make me think about you, huh?!"

"..."

Dialog... End!

Tears filled my eyes. Why was I crying? Makoto tried to wipe some of my tears, but I pushed him off. "You... get away from me!" I tried to run to the door, but before I could, Makoto grabbed my arm and pulled me into a kiss. It wasn't a rough kiss, it was soft. The sort you see in princess movies that have happily ever afters. I stopped crying. We stood in silence for a couple of seconds. That is until I embraced him. Sure, he might be the mastermind. But I loved him. I spoke. "Sorry for being kind of whiny..! It's just that... I didn't expect you to be the mastermind... ya know?" Makoto laughed softly. "Exactly!"
