(Ike's POV)
When I got off my bus and walked a whole 'nother block to get to my house I see a bright blue Jeep pull into the house across the street from me.
I had never seen it before in my life. The license plate said "PPIQS" with no numbers on it either. I wonder what it means.
Right as I was about the head into my house I see Rex step out of the driver's side.
I try to hurry inside but he yells my name. I turn around and smile as he says with his voice slightly raised so I could hear him from across the street, "Ike! I didn't know I was your neighbor. That is so cool, right?" I nod smiling just waiting for him to shut up so I can go inside. "Wanna come over to my house?! That'd be so fun." He smiled so wide it made my stomach do flips. Stop it! You just met him!
"Oh. I go over to your house? But we just met this morning." I stated.
"Yet you gave me your number this morning." Rex pointed out. "I thought that meant we were friends." He pouted.
He was acting like a child, but he had got me with the phone number part. "Fine, I'll go over to your house." I continued "BUT! Only for a short while. I have homework to do and so do you."
He frowned even harder. "I thought we could do homework together at my house."
I rolled my eyes and walked across the street onto his driveway up to Rex's front door. I look back at him, his face with a look of confusion, and said "You wanted me to hang out, right? I'll hang out longer if we get our homework done first."
He smiled a toothy grin and ran up to me and hugged me. Where had the shy guy gone I had seen this morning? And why is he so childish?
(Rex's POV)
I run up to Ike and hug him then dash inside my house.
I open the fridge then I hear my mom shout from the other room, "Honeyyyyy? Are you home?" I yell yes in reply. "Okay! Your Mother's in the other room."
I think to myself Oh! It's mother today! So I have a genderfluid parent, meaning that one day my parent might feel like they are a girl one day but maybe a boy the next.
Ike looks over at my confused face then I tell him about my mother. "I don't fully understand it but I kinda do at the same time," Ike speaks. Okay, so it's now my turn to be confused. "My sibling, Quinn, is non-binary. Their pretty cool."
"Okay. Wanna play some video games?" I say.
