Stars....they cover the midnight sky like fireflies. Driving down the highway heading home made it easy seeing them when your a little girl. Having a dad with a convertible black Chevy Camaro made it even more easy to stare up at them. The air wasn't cold either so it was a pleasant ride home.

The girl smiles seeing a shooting star "mommy mommy a shooting star!!". The girl pointed up towards the sky for her mother to see. "Well make a wish my little sinderblock" her mother smiles warmly at her only child. The girl closed her eyes and started making her wish but soon her father screamed out. The girl's eyes shot open staring at a rig that had suddenly stopped in-front of them due to a herd of deer crossing the road. Her father slammed on the brakes to late and caused the front half of the car to be crushed...along with her parents. After that the girl's world faded to black with only the sound of sirens.

Six years later the girl was in an orphanage wearing nothing but a dirty brown sack dress. Beaten for any little disapproval she done or starved for being a "bad girl". Even being a "good girl" wasn't pleasant, less beatings but you got to eat from scraps from the owner's meals. Finally she just had enough and just ran...ran from the abuse, the loneliness, and the pain.

The girl ran so far that when she finally stopped she was in an alleyway behind a nice two story house. She looked around panting heavy feeling the burn in her legs and soon hearing the sound of her stomach. She than saw a loose board in the fence and decided to slip through quietly not wanting to wake up whoever owned the house. She was pretty good at sneaking around since she was placed in the orphanages. Stealing only food from houses and never money. As she crept to the back door she gently turn the knob to see if it was locked or not. To her luck it wasn't and no alarm either, the owner either trusted the neighborhood too much or was plain stupid. She quietly slipped in and tip toed to the kitchen, that was not far from the back door just to the right and began her search for food.

Suddenly, she felt a small hand on her shoulder causing her to jump dropping a can making a loud thud. "Samual! You better be in bed young man!" A woman's voice was heard followed by footsteps coming from the stairs. The lights turn on revealing the girl in the corner crouch down holding her head scared. A gasp was heard from the entrance than the girl felt a small hand again on her shoulder. She slowly looked seeing innocent brown eyes staring at her. "It's okay I won't hurt ya" he smiles at her than to his parents who looked shocked more than mad. The woman steps forward holding her hand out to her "you must be hungry, how bout I fix ya a proper meal and than you can explain to us why your here okay?". The girl stares and soon begins to cry and nods softly before the boy hugged her tightly. "Now what's your name deary?" The woman asked watching her son comfort the girl. The girl slowly calm down and let a few hiccups out. She saw a white board near them and took the marker and wrote out her name for them. All three of them smiled and nodded walking her to the table to sit so she could eat. Everything turned around for her for the better. They took her in, gave her a room, clothes, food, and they gave her a brother that she wanted. They gave her a new life and family...they gave her a second chance.
