Steve stands outside, almost defeated by the failure he just experienced with Scott's short time travel trip. The silence breaks when the sound of a motor revving as an Audi R8 speeds towards the building.
The window rolls down to reveal Tony and y/n sitting in the front seats. "Why the long face?" Tony asks. "Let me guess: He turned into a baby."
"Among other things, yeah. What are you doing here?" Steve asks.
Y/n steps out of the car. "What happened to Scott, that's the EPR paradox. Instead of pushing Scott through time, you might've wound up pushing time through Scott. It's tricky. Dangerous--" y/n opens the trunk as Tony continues talking to Steve. "Somebody shoulda cautioned you against it."
"You did." Steve simply responds.
"Oh, did I?" Tony questions, playing dumb. "Thank God I'm here. Regardless, I fixed it." He holds up his right hand, with a device wrapped around the palm of his hand. "A fully functioning Time-Space GPS. I just want peace." He holds up a peace sign. "Turns out, resentment is corrosive, and I hate it."
"Me too."
"We got a shot at getting these stones, but I gotta tell you my priorities: Bring back what we lost? I hope. Keep what I got? I have to, at all costs. And... maybe not die trying will be nice." Tony says, standing in front of Steve while y/n rummages through the trunk.
"Sounds like a deal." Steve reaches out his hand to shake in the deal, in which Tony returns.
"Well, if we're getting the band back together.." Y/n says walking forward. "We need a captain." She smiles, holding out Steve's shield.
Steve looks between Y/n, Tony, and the shield. "Tony... I don't know..."
"Why? Howard made it for you." Tony pushes. "Plus, honestly I have to get it out of the garage before Morgan takes it sledding." Tony jokes. Steve places his arm in the holds and adjusts his stance.
"Thank you, Tony."
"Will you keep that a little quiet? Didn't bring one for the whole team." Tony finishes, grabbing a box from the car.
"We are getting the whole team, right?" Y/n questions.
"We're working on that right now." Steve softly smiles, wrapping an arm around y/n's shoulders as they walk into the warehouse.Scott, Bruce, Steve, Y/n, and Rhodey are talking. Scott stands in a red and white suit similar to his Ant-Man suit.
"Time travel suit? Not bad." Rhodey responds.
"Hey, hey, hey! Easy, easy!" Scott shouts as Bruce backs away with the viles.
"I'm being very careful." Bruce tells him.
"No, you're being very Hulky." Scott freaks.
"I'm being careful."
"These are Pym Particles, alright? And ever since Hank Pym got snapped out of existence, this is it. This is what we have. We're not making any more."
"Scott, calm down." Rhodey jumps in.
"Sorry. We've got enough for one round trip each. That's it. No do-overs. Plus two test runs." He accidentally presses a button, and shrinks, and then grows back to his normal size. "One test run."Steve, Clint, Y/n, Nat, Tony, Scott, Bruce, Rhodey and Nebula are standing at a control panel now.
"All right. I'm not ready for this." Scott says.
"I'll do it." Y/n says.
"Hell no!" Tony shouts.
"Y/n, with the possibility of this going wrong, you may get stuck." Bruce explains.
"Then it's a price I'll have to pay. But if it means everyone else gets to live then so be it."
"Fine." Tony snaps. "But I don't like this."
"Alright, y/n. We're going in 3... 2... 1!" Bruce flips a switch and y/n is shrunken down and flies through the quantum realm before returning to her normal size in the middle of a park.
"Where—" y/n goes to question but stops when she spots a younger version of herself, a 13 year-old version to be exact.
"Please be here today." 2014 y/n mutters as she paces the width of the gazebo. 2023 y/n crouches behind a bush, watching.
"Y/n/n!" Another voice shouts causing the older y/n to look and see a 13 year-old Peter Parker running towards her younger self. "Sorry I'm late, Aunt May had me do the dishes before I left."
"It's okay! I'm just glad you showed up." 2023 y/n smiles to herself, remembering that this was the day Peter took her to Times Square. They called it their first date because they started dating a week later. The time gps begins to beep and y/n grabs a branch from the flower bush as she disappears, the exact same bush Peter picks a flower for her from.
Suddenly she's back at the Avengers compound. Tears brim her eyes as she stares at the flower. Dahlias became her favorite after that day, and Peter would surprise her with one everyday whenever they were in season.
"Hey, hey. Look at me. You okay?" Nat asks.
"Yeah, it worked. It worked." Y/n says, voice cracking. "Here's your proof." She cries, throwing the Dahlia to the ground before walking out of the warehouse and into the living area of the compound.
Steve follows behind her, "Hey, you okay?"
"Oh totally." Y/n groans, wiping her tears away.
"Where did you go? When you jumped?"
"2014, just before sokovia." Y/n laughs, "It was Peter and I's 'first date'. We went to Times Square and he gave me a Dahlia as a gift."
"Oh, y/n I'm sorry." Steve pulls her into a hug as she cries. "Hey, this will work, okay? We're going to get them back."The team stands on the platform in their own quantum suits. Y/n stands at control panel, refusing to go back through time again.
"Five years ago, we lost. All of us. We lost friends... We lost family... We lost significant others..." Steve trails, looking towards y/n. "We lost a part of ourselves. Today, we have a chance to take it all back. You know your teams, you know your missions. Get the stones, get them back. One round trip each. No mistakes. No do-overs. Most of us are going somewhere we know. But it doesn't mean we should know what to expect. Be careful. Look out for each other. This is the fight of our lives. And we're gonna win." Tony gives Steve a look of doubt. "Whatever it takes. Good luck."
"All right. You heard the man." Tony says. "Start em up kiddo."
"Tractors engaged." Y/n states. "Good luck guys." They all shrink and enter the Quantum Realm, and they all split at different intervals, going to a different place at a different time in history. The teams make it back at separate times. When Scott and Bruce return y/n gets worried. "Where's my dad? And Steve?"
"They jumped to another year. Stupidly enough. But it's a year with Pym particles so..." Scott explains as y/n suddenly runs up the steps to the platform.
"Y/n what are you doing?" Bruce asks, running up to the control panel.
"Helping, if I had come with maybe things would've turned out different. But we won't know so I have to go help them now. Scott where?"
"Jersey, 1979." Y/n adjusts the time watch and looks to Bruce.
"Start it up."
"Y/n..."
"Now Bruce." Bruce starts the machine and y/n shrinks into the quantum realm."Right. Well, imagine you're SHIELD, running a quasi-fascistic intelligence organization. Where do you hide it?" Tony asks Steve.
"In plain sight."
"Y/n?" Steve questions.
"What are you doing here?" Tony presses.
"Making sure you don't get yourselves killed." Y/n tells the two. "Steve you get the Pym particles, I'll distract Dr. Pym. Dad you go get the tesseract."
"Who put you in charge, young lady?" Tony questions.
"We're on an army base in the 1970s with the man who was basically invented here and the son of a scientist who works here. I think it's best if I do the most socializing." Y/n says, putting on a pair of aviator sunglasses. "Now come on." She leads the two men to an elevator and they each press their individual floor.
The three stand in the elevator with a woman, Tony glances over before stepping before Steve and y/n. The elevator sings and Tony moves to exit.
"Good luck on your mission, Captain." Tony states exiting the elevator. "And in your project doctor."
"To you as well." Y/n smiles politely at her father.
"You two new here?" The lady asks as the doors close.
"Not exactly." Steve and y/n answer in unison.
The elevator reaches their floor and Steve allows y/n to exit first before following her.
"Alright, give me 2 minutes to convince Pym to go downstairs. I'll go with him to make sure he doesn't come back. After that you'll have precisely 5 minutes before he finds out I tricked him, so work fast."
"Got it." Steve says before turning to the pay phone, pretending to make a call.
Y/n walks up to the door with Hank Pym's name, knocking. "Come in!" She hears from inside as she opens the door. "Just a moment please." Y/n waits a moment as Hank finishes his task. "Now how may I help—" Hank looks to see y/n and smiles. "What can I do for a beautiful young lady such as yourself?"
"Oh well thank you," y/n giggles. "I was actually coming to tell you that there was a package delivered for you in the mail room."
"Oh, why didn't the bring it up?" Hank questions.
"I'm afraid a few of them aren't feeling well after they tried." Y/n quickly explains.
"They didn't open it did they?"
"I'm afraid they might've." Y/n replies.
"Oh dear!" Hank exclaims, rubbing towards the mail room, y/n following behind as Steve slips into the lab.
Y/n loses sight of Hank as she bumps into someone. "Oh no I'm so sorry." The other person says.
"No it's okay, I wasn't paying attention." Y/n protests as she scrambled to grab the papers the other person dropped. "Here you go." She smiles handing him the papers but her smile drops when she locks eyes with him. The same chocolate eyes that haunt her dreams since the day of the snap. The face of the man she loved, with the same mop of brown curls. Her breathing halts as she stares at him.
"Sorry for bumping into you. Again."
"No worries, really it's okay. Uhm, I don't think I've seen you before." Y/n softly smiles, breaking out of her trance.
"Right, I'm Richard, Richard Parker."
