Taunting Dreams

Dreams escape me.

Taunting just outside my grasp.

They dance in and out of my fingers.

Mocking me with false promises and lies.

I fell for them once.

I was told I could achieve,

it was the happiest day of my life.

When I wore my feelings on my sleeves.

Casting my misery outward,

I hide in the shadows.

Hiding from all that once brought me joy.
