Amaris rushed into her mom's room, only to see her still unconscious with a bunch of wires hooked up to her body; she looked so pale lying in the white hospital gown. Just as Amaris sat down beside her mother, the doctor walked in.
"Hello, you must be Ms. Haynes' daughter. My name is Dr. Kang," he said reaching out to shake Amaris hand. His hand was soft yet firm against Amaris'.
"Dr. Kang, what's wrong with my mom?"
"She had a stroke. Her antiphospholipid syndrome caused a blood clot in her right vertebral artery which reduced blood flow to her brain and resulted in your mother's stroke."
"But why isn't she awake yet?"
"We had to give her general anesthesia to do a thrombolysis procedure to remove the clot but, she will wake up shortly. We want to keep her here for a couple of days to make sure the stroke didn't cause any lasting disabilities. But, the possibility of lasting disabilities is low because you found her and alerted the authorities before any lasting damage could occur."
"Okay, thank you, Doctor."
