Backstory (wip): Summer was found half dead in the wild fields near Heartland by Jack when he was taking Paint out for a ride, and he brought her back to Heartland. She woke up to Georgie (12 at the time) asking if she was okay. The two talked and grew a bond.
Summer suffered mild amnesia for a day before remembering her name (during the time, she was nicknamed "Nameless") and how she wound up at Heartland: she had been living with her brother, Connor, and Connor's abusive girlfriend Cali. Summer had tried to get her brother to leave, but he was trapped as he was convinced that if he got Cali a psychiatrist and medication, things would get better. Summer hadn't had the strength to hold out for that long, and with her sister Sarah married and out of the picture, Summer ran away. She had been running for days on end, her food and water depleted, and collapsed where Jack had found her.
Heartland was like a safe haven to Summer, a girl who'd grown up with an interest for horses but not the money. It was like a fairytale. But soon as Summer had remembered her situation, she realised she had to reach out to her brother. She called and apologised to him that she'd taken off, and asked him to come visit. The family helped him out of the relationship for good, and Connor started living in the dude ranch.
Upon Summer's arrival, Amy had found a blue roan gelding in the forest and brought him back to Heartland when she realised he looked sick.
The blue roan had minor colic, which Ty quickly treated. They found out the gelding was also suffering head injuries and would probably have to be kept under care for a long time.
Summer took a special interest to the gelding and spent every other waking moment with the blue roan. Amy noticed this and asked Summer to help her gentle him and nurse him back to health. Amy asked Summer to name him, and the latter decided on the name "Jupiter".
When Jupiter was well and gentle enough to be ridden, Amy and Summer realised how much potential he had, and Summer dreamt of him being her show jumper horse under the showname "Jupiter Springs".
At that point, Amy decided to keep Jupiter at the ranch permanently, and told Summer that she may as well have him as her own, since she spends almost all her time with him anyway. Summer was thrilled and thankful.
Years passed as Summer grew stronger bonds with both Georgie and Jupiter, until Lou and Peter decided to adopt the girl due to how well she had bonded with Georgie, and they wanted another child anyway.
