…………………………………………………….

I had one word for my first day at Hogwarts.

AMAZING.

Everything was so beautiful and so warm and so shiny and… okay. I could go on. And the moment all the food appeared in the tables during the welcome feast, I knew I was going to love every bit of my life here. I wonder if all muggle-borns feel the same excitement here as I do. Although from the way Sarahi described her friend, Ben Copper, I'd say not everyone is as happy as me.

I was a Gryffindor! So that was great too. Although I would have been happy with any house. Except Slytherin maybe. Nothing against the house, I'm just not a big fan of snakes. I wouldn't want to pin a snake badge on my robes every day.

Sarahi's Gryffindor friends introduced me to her. They were really friendly. There was Charlie Weasley, Jae Kim, Clara Lin, Fred and George Weasley. No Ben Copper though. It's safe to say that Fred and George are kind of my first and best friends right now. Except for Sarahi, of course. I'm yet to meet a girl my age who I can befriend.

Only minutes into my first day at Hogwarts, I realized how judgemental some witches and Wizards could be about my muggle-born status. Being muggle-born is something I'm proud of. This is what Sarahi had warned me about when she said that some people may call me a mudblood. Needless to say, I kicked a Slytherin boy where it hurts and punched him in the face when he called me that. And I'm proud to say, I sent him to the hospital wing.

My first classes were more fun than I ever thought. Sarahi had already given me tips on how to deal with each Professor. All the Professors were actually quite friendly… except for Snape. I wasn't in Potions for five seconds and that man was already a walking cactus. Thank goodness the Potions were fun to make.

I was bouncing with excitement at the end of the day. I couldn't wait to tell Sarahi everything. But then I heard the news that changed everything.

A Statue curse? Which turned students to statues? No wonder Sarahi is so afraid all the time. This must be the curse she has to break this year.

Poor Sarahi can't catch a break, can she? No wonder Anna was worried. First her brother abandons her again, then her mum sets her on fire, and now this.

I knew I wasn't going to catch Sarahi anytime soon. I decided not to press, because I knew she would have her hands full with the new curse and everything. I spent my time hanging out with Fred and George.

"This library is MASSIVE!" I shouted when I entered it. "How does anyone find anything in this place!?"

"SHHHHHHH!"

I saw a mean looking lady shush me. I politely smiled and mumbled a sorry. That must be the librarian, Madam Pince. I recall Sarahi telling me that 'shushing' is Madam Pince's language. Nevertheless, a mischievous smile grew on mine, Fred and George's faces. If what Sarahi told me is true (not that she'd ever lie to me), I knew exactly how to annoy this bird-like librarian.

We were in the middle of rearranging the library books when Pincey caught on. George took the entire blame for it, which is something I had not expected. Are Wizards always this selfless? The three of us walked away laughing, but my laughter stopped when I saw Sarahi in the Library. She was speaking to Charlie Weasley and another red-headed boy with a ridiculous hat. She looked really worried and was trembling a little.
