Dinner

It was a typical hot August evening in California. The dry heat was unbearable for Jenny, and so she turned on every contraption in her humble home to stay cool. The A/C was at 68 degrees, the scientifically recommended temperature to set the A/C at. The multi-colored ribbons that were on her portable fan blew left and right as the machine swiveled to cover the entire room with its cool air.

Jenny sat on her mahogany desk and chair, slowly but steadily eating her dinner. It was steamed rice with grilled chicken and ketchup, a simple but delicious meal that she had made herself just minutes ago. She wondered what she should do for the rest of the day, as her annual pass for Disneyland had expired long ago.

Perhaps she could continue working on her high anticipated review of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Perhaps she could watch a topical film and create a new video, filled to the brim with hot takes.

Suddenly, an idea appeared in her head.

"What if I streamed again?", she asked the nothingness of her home.

While chewing on her well-seasoned chicken, she decided that this was what she was going to do tonight. Her first streams had been highly successful, and she was well on her way to become a certifiable Twitch streamer. At the rate that her channel was growing, she'd be known as a pro gamer in no time. This was her dream, her destiny, since childhood.

Her snail's pace at eating morphed into a cheetah's, and she quickly cleaned her plate, she was a growing woman after all. After giving her plate and utensils a quick but thorough wash in her sink, she hurried to her gamer desk, looked at her brand-new gaming computer, and began preparing to stream.

She did a mic test.

"One two, one two.", she said conversationally at her microphone.

She did a sync test. A wave of her hand to the left, a wave of her hand to the right. Everything was great so far.

On an open tab, she went onto Twitter, her favorite social media site. Her fingers hovered over her gamer keyboard as she thought of what she wanted to say to her thousands of adoring fans and followers.
