I wore the sugar-coated words thrown
At me like a second skin
It covered the lies that slipped pass your teeth
And they said words cut deeper
But was it words that hurt me
Or is it me avoiding truth? That I hear the euphemisms in between
Rather than accept what is real.
My world is built on words, a wall of fake confidence
And compliments surround it, that is its strongest feat
And yet this world can be destroyed by the mere thing
It is built on.Pillars of sweetness
It powered my esteem, but I am an irony
A walking contradiction of my own mantra
It is I who also drains my optimism
