"I've already booked you a flight. Just meet me at the airport."

"Rebekah! I can't just give up this sudden life I've made for myself!"

"What life? Playing with cute boys is not an ideal lifestyle. Your family needs you. Nik needs you."

"Of course he needs me. He would be in deep shit without me."

"And he is. You know that Elijah can't stop him from fucking up all the time. Only you can."

"Look 'Bekah, I get he's my brother and all, but I can't always be there to save him. I need a life of my own!"

"He's in Mystic Falls."

"What?! Is he stupid?!"

"I know. I know. But he's found a Petrova doppelgänger."

"Rebekah, you and I both know that's impossible."

"I thought so too. You know what he's trying to do Nikol. And he'll kill at least a million people trying to do so."

"Mikael will find us so easily."

"But we'll all be together. We'll fight him."

"That would never work. Klaus and I...Mikael has special advantage over us. Mikael is the only thing Klaus fears."

"Nikol. We're family. And Klaus needs you. He's not just your brother. He's your other half. You have a connection with him none of us have. You need to stop him before he messes up real bad."

"Fine. What time is the flight?"

"Meh. In about two hours."

"Two hours! Rebekah! How am I meant to pack?!"

"Get over yourself. We can go shopping in Mystic Falls."

"Do we really have to go?"

"I say it's about time we went home."

"I say not. Bye Rebekah. I love you."

"I love you too. Don't be late."

Nikol ended the call and rolled her eyes, looking at the picture on the mantle. He was slightly taller than she was, but they shared the same deep blue eyes, the slightly curly, dirty blonde hair, pale skin. The biggest resemblance was their killing stare, the blue eyes glaring into the camera that made the hair on people's neck stand like soldiers.

She stuffed her essentials in a random designer handbag, one Klaus had bought her obviously and looked around her house.

She hadn't seen her family for about a decade, and was not that excited to see them again. Klaus and her always built a life together, until she decided that she wanted something of her own for once, and he let her do so, and she had fun.

There really wasn't that much for a hybrid to do by herself. She tried blend in with the normal world, but her werewolf anger prevented her from doing so. The simplest of tasks like solving a complicated math equation made her furious, to the point where she tipped all the desks over and smashed the tables. It wasn't for her.

And now it was time for her to return to the village she was born in, she thought as she hailed a cab from the road outside her house. She always thought that Mystic Falls was cursed ground.

It was where the first vampires were created, where dark magic was birthed, and now her psychotic twin was rampaging the small town, figuring out a way to undo the curse their own mother put upon them.

"Where to ma'am?" The cab driver asked as she looked into his eyes through the mirror.

"The airport please."

"Weird time to be going in the middle of the day. Emergency?"

"Hah. Yeah. It's my brother. He's a bit of a weirdo."

"Really? How's he weird? Is he a drunk?"

Nikol laughed in her head. If only he was. She couldn't really tell this human that her brother was an infamous killer amongst a supernatural species that humans fantasised about!

"Not really. More like...criminal I guess."

"Ooh! Never heard of that before! Where are you going?"

"Oh the US."

"Whereabouts?"

Why was this man asking so many questions? It aggravated her. Maybe it was a human thing to be friendly nowadays but she didn't like it. She was a private person.

"Virginia." She finally said as he raised an eyebrow.

"The south? Family there?"

"Yeah. My family descended from Viking settlers in Virginia so yeah."

"Vikings in America? I've never heard of that!"

Nikol clenched her teeth. It was silly of her to get annoyed but she wasn't asked to explain. Why was he so interested?

"Yeah well history doesn't teach you everything." She said with a little snap to emphasise that she didn't want to speak.

"I see." He muttered bluntly as she sighed. Finally. Now she could think.

Why was Klaus so intent on breaking their curse? They were already Original vampires, they could compel other vampires, were stronger and faster and couldn't be killed! Why did he want to unravel his wolf side so bad?

Undoing the curse didn't just mean Klaus would get back his werewolf side, Nikol would unleash the lycanthrope inside her as well. The liberty of turning anytime she wanted would be hers. But it came at a price- and a lot of sacrifice.

She couldn't believe that Katerina Petrova had another doppelgänger. She thought that her line had ended with her, but it didn't seem so.

"Miss, we're here."

"Great." She said through clenched teeth, paying the cabbie generously, then stepping out of the taxi, people looking at her as she stomped furiously into the airport.

She didn't ask for a family reunion. She didn't want to see her dysfunctional family who enjoyed killing people rather than picnics. She wasn't like Rebekah, who liked being with her siblings as they ran from their 'father' for centuries, never settling down peacefully.

But, you don't get what you want.

"Nikol! Finally!" She heard her sister's enthusiastic greeting and the clicking of her heels as she turned around.

"Rebekah!" She said through clenched teeth as the blonde jumped onto her.

"I haven't seen you in forever! Ten years has never felt so long!"

"Rebekah, we all know ten years is like 5 minutes to us." The older sister said, raising her brows as her younger sister rolled her eyes.

"Well then, a very long 5 minutes. Now hurry up, we can still make the flight!"

Rebekah grabbed her sister's hand and dragged her across the airport, finally making the gate as every boarded.

Rebekah's eyes wandered to her sister and smiled brightly.

"Time to see our family!"
