-"In ancient times, we had buildings that reach the skies and monuments just as big, everything was alright. The only thing we had to worry of was our poverty, our wars, and moving forward. At that time we were the most fearsome predator on land." Now, what do you all say about that?- Miss Goldberg asked after reading a passage of a huge book with the titled faded off of the cover.
-IT'S ALIENS! They where the ones who brought the calamities here!- the class conspirator shouted,
Part of the conspiracy club, his name is Turner Bates. He's just a bit taller than average, short blonde hair that is often messy because of his obsessions. Despite that he always wears the latest trends and never has imperfections on his skin. We are sorta friends, I'm just too soft to tell him to shut up. The class laughed at him and he hid awkwardly putting his hoodie on his head. I wonder why he never wears it? Patting his back a little in comfort Miss Goldberg called on me.
-Miss Smith, what is your take on it?- She said a look of 'save me' on her face.
I was going to answer until someone shouted -Nah it's absolutely aliens!-
The class erupted in giggles, laughs, and some people telling the others to knock it off. Miss Goldberg looked annoyed and and pushed a ceramic pot of her desk. The loud shattering sound made the class go quiet.
-It's clear that none of you are interested in this, now let the smart people answer or get detention.- She said pressing a button on her desk that made a little robot clean the ceramic.
Heads turned to me and my body froze, trying to gather my thoughts I looked down at my notes. Still feeling the pointed stares of my peers.
-Before the calamaties people could kill any other creature.- I said, voice a little shaky.
Looking back at the teacher she sighed in relief -Class dismissed.- She said and everyone packed up and left.
Through the hallway a very loud -Of course she's lucky after all!-
I hate it! Lucky Smith, what a stupid name? Why did mom have to pick that?! Eleanor such a beautiful and elegant name, Rosabel is a adorable name but no, I am Lucky. Packing my things quickly I left for the cafeteria. Seared steak with mushroom sauce and white rice with cilantro, and chocolate pudding, damn this was going to be good! I sat down and immediately brought out my phone and headphones, after all the cafeteria is where all the gossip happens, and I don't want to hear it. A few minutes into my food a odd number calls me, I answer it but there is no reply at the other end.
-Look behind you.- Said a very scary voice.
But we're in school! Nothing bad would happen, right? Turning around I saw a lot of people on their phones, calling texting playing or reading but no one was looking at me. Turning back to my food the steak had sprinkles, the rice had a mountain of either sugar or salt and the pudding had mushrooms mixed in.
-Enjoy your food, Smithy- Turner said ruffling my hair.
-Oh shut up Bates!- I retort taking his plate of food. Turner shrugs and digs into the food he ruined.
-Wanna talk about it?- I ask, looking over to him he quickly got a laptop out.
-Ok so just listen, right? New evidence shows Elvis is alive, "He raises his 2 fingers to the top of his left head as a proof of life signal. In Chaldean Numerology the numerical value of V sign in Numerology is: 9. Proof of life! He told us he is alive with the simple V sign. Number 9 ,'I'm Alive' He is giving us a clue that he knows we are all there watching him and to his most loyal fans that he is indeed with us."- He said enthusiastically shaking me softly but surely.
What?! Where are you getting this? Elvis Presley was alive before the first calamity! If he were alive he would be inmortal! Letting him talk my ears off we left the cafeteria and were walking aimlessly around the school.
-...that just proves it!- Turner said with a proud smile. I smile back and nod as if I actually understood a sentence he said.
-Why do you talk so fast anyway?- I ask spinning the conversation around.
Turner stopped and looked at his phone, -Class is dismissed for the rest of the day.- he said completely dodging my question.
-Well, bye!- He said running to the conspiracy club room.
That was more than a little weird. I suppose I should go to work and put a couple more hours in, I need more money anyway. As I think back to school a good question comes to mind, is there even anyone else in the conspiracy club?
My job today was cleaning. Counters, floors and plates, you name it. Cleaning duty is more than a little below what I'm capable of, but I like this diner. Especially because of where it's located, right in the heart of the city! It's the closest to the general monorail, which can take you just about anywhere in the city.
Seeing red and blue flash on the T.V. mounted onto the wall, I quickly go and grab a gas mask and head over to the monorail. A calamity has struck! I'm not going to miss it for the world.
