That Which Was Written in a Car on the Ride Back From Camp

I wrote every night

But never finished a poem

It was always too late

Or too dark

Or too painful to think about

But I thought of you every day

And you brought light, fluffy ideas

And warm, golden feelings

I went feeling confused

With a cloudy, muddled head

Not knowing how to think

How to feel

How you feel

But then I found peace

My mind can rest

At least for now

With clear skies

And cloudless thoughts

I missed you

But the memory of your smile

Kept me company

Whatever may happen

I know we'll be okay

To fight through the storms

And find sanctuary
