It was getting late already, and Baekhyun still didn't know where to go.

He would’ve loved to join Jongdae or Minseok, the only true friends he could count on, but he already knew that they’d be unable to shelter him for the night nor the days to come.

After all, both of their families had long since ganged up on him- and that was their common ground. They all shared the same opinion about him;

Baekhyun was the one and only reason behind their sons' "unhealthy relationship and ridiculous union", blaming him and his deranged vision of the world for negatively influencing their "poor children" who both turned to the "dark side" ; homosexuality.

However, This common hatred they had for him hadn’t always existed.

Actually, it was quite the opposite, at first.

Once upon a time, the trio (nicknamed CBX from their childhood) spent most of their time together either at a small
neighbourhood park or at
each other’s homes.

Their families were all very close- close in terms of both the proximity of their houses and their strong relationships that had forged over their years spent
as neighbours.

Unfortunately, a few years later after having discovered the secret union of their two sons, Jongdae and Minseok, and uncovering Baekhyun’s sexuality, they strictly forbade the boys from
having any form of
contact.

Baekhyun was never allowed to speak to his best friends again- at least, not under their watch.

Now that Baekhyun thought about it, it wasn’t at all impossible that his father had learnt about ‘him’ through his neighbours- they used to be close, after all.

Although he knew that his two friends had taken care of their parents so that they kept silent, they still felt guilty to
have accidentally let his secret
slip from their mouths.

It had happened during the argument they’d had after coming out, having unintentionally used Baekhyun to
support their arguments and
defend their choice.

They were ashamed of their mistake and daren’t face him- not that their parents would’ve allowed them anyway.

After a while though, things had calmed down and their parents had dropped their guard- leaving CBX the perfect opportunity to meet up in secret.

They would occasionally sneak off to the beach or to an arcade where they could play and have fun, all three of them,
like they used to in the good old
days- the days in which they
were no more than

innocent children with no burdens.

Baekhyun knew that his friends would never turn their backs on him as their parents did, but he still thought it
best that he didn’t trouble them
with any more of his
problems-

they had already suffered enough because of him.

A new wave of remorse took over him, drowning him in feelings of even worse guilt than he had already been struggling with.

It was all his fault.

If only Baekhyun didn’t exist, none of this would ever have happened- both of his friends’ families would be living just fine with their sons, and his own family wouldn’t be so fucked up.

‘You annoying piece of shit.
Look at what you’ve done.’

Feeling new waves of tears pricking his eyes, Baekhyun tried to ignore his thoughts and focus on the situation at hand.
