Minato was training the two youngest of the triplets, menna and mino training. While training was going on Naruto was watching his father train the other two since minato believes that the kurama is sealed in the two youngest.
The third Kurama is sealed in Naruto and he had been practicing his chakra control since his so called father can't train him since his "darling son and daughter need to control their Kurama".
Once Minato found his training by himself, he then suddenly remembered Naruto..
~flashback~
The fourth was about to do the sealing, but felt a choo in the back of his neck. He could faintly hear that the third us doing sealing for him and that he needed for his triplets.
When he woke up he noticed something where the third should have been, wasnt there. Then he noticed the triplets and called the nurse, " hey! Do you know where the third is?" Minato asked, " well, after he did the sealing... it took his life away"
~end of flashback~
That's when he realized that Naruto was skinnier than normal for his age, then he remembered that he only cooked for three, not four. He realized his mistake and started crying in his office, he normally would have complained if Naruto went into his office for scrolls and other things.
