The first death was my best friend.
He was found just after the Flag Ceremony. His body was hanging from the 2nd floor balcony. His face, pale and lacerations were found on his neck. He was obviously dead.
It was a freshman who found him. She immediately called a teacher and the whole school was alerted. We, his best friends, were requested to stay at the office but we sneaked out of course.
We arrived just in time. They lowered the body and we got a clear view of what happened to him. Of what happened to Moses.
I was stunned. Along with Drobert and the rest of our classmates. Cj was crying and Vann was trying hard not to throw up. Isabel was clearly holding back tears, her fists clenched so tightly it started to bleed.
The world around us was so noisy but we were so quiet. Only Cj's sobs can be heard from us and even that was muffled.
I suppose that was the worst day of our lives. None of us knew that that day was nothing compared to what was to come.
Moses was the first death. He was just the first one to die. There were more to come.
