Chapter 1~ The Final Day
"'Cause all I know is we said, "Hello."
And your eyes look like coming home
All I know is a simple name
Everything has changed
All I know is you held the door
You'll be mine and I'll be yours
All I know since yesterday is everything has changed"
~Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran Everything Has Changed
"Aaron Braden Carpenter! Get up!" Elijah basically yelled. It was 6:00 in the morning on a Friday. "Get off!" I shouted obviously getting annoyed. It was bad I had to go to school, why was she waking me up an hour before I had to go.
She sighed. "We have to be at school!" she extended the last word. She shook me. "Can you not?" I asked, before sitting up in my bed. "Actually I can't." She said before yanking off my covers and running out my door.
So here I was, sitting in my underwear in my bed. I got up and put on some shorts, before walking out my bedroom door. "Elijah!" I groaned, she was wasting my time. I turned around and went to my dresser, grabbing a pair of khakis and a red shirt. Before walking to the bathroom, then brushing my teeth and all that Jazz
"So there you are!" Elijah head popped in the door way. "What?" I asked, clearly annoyed. First she wakes me an hour before school, and take my comforter forcing me to get up. Does she realize that I’m pissed at her? "Well okay then." she puts, obviously mad at me. She turns and leaves my sight.
One ting I hate about Elijah is that she’s so tough around others but when I offend her, she instantly gets mad, easily. I honestly don't understand.
I get close the door and get dress before going to my closet and getting a pair of red vans. I grab my black Jansport and go to our kitchen downstairs. "Mom!!" I shouted, wondering where she was and why she left Elijah in so early.
"Elijah left." she said, very blunt. So she was basically going to leave, over me getting annoyed.
"Okay." I said, before grabbing an apple and leaving to get to school. I knew where Elijah was, the only place she could've gone. The tree house.
The tree house was the neighbor hood 'community center' over the years there was more and more kids moving here, so they needed somewhere to just put them all. So they built the tree house. It was opened 24/7 and any kids was welcomed. So knew she was there.
I arrived at the tree house and went inside. Sure enough she was there.
"I hope you didn't get offended." I said, walking up to her. She was on a beanbag watching American horror Story.
"I did, Aaron." she responded, she didn't look me in the eye, her back was turned so I only say her black semi-curly hair was showing.
Girls are so complicated.
"Well I apologize." again "You know I’m trying to adjust to you and this feelings stuff." I say, this isn't the only time this has happened, it occurs about 3 times a week, which is too much for me.
"I would like you to know, that I get easily offended, but when you say stuff or get mad. It hurts a lot more from you. A lot." she says. I just nod not knowing what to say.
"So do you forgive me?" I ask, moments later.
"Yes." she responds tuning to me. She hugged me as we walked to our bus stop, right in front of the tree house.
"So are you scared." I said. She knew what I was talking about. Her dad was coming home today, he was overseas in Korea.
"Yes." she said as we entered the bus. Our bus was always crowded on this stop; we were the loudest kids also. So he few kids that got on before us had a couple minutes of quiet before we came on.
"Hey what's up Aaron?" Calum asked me. He was really chill and we were cool. Beside Elijah he was my best friend. "Nothing man." I said. Calum was real popular; I really don't know how we became friends. Especially since I was or am so shy.
Elijah was right behind me as I took my seat. She sat next to me, just a Miranda tried to. "Watch it Miranda." Elijah said with some real sass to her voice. I laughed before Miranda shot me a glare.
I laughed some more before the bus driver pulled off. I sat comfortably in the seat. "I heard my dad's going to pick me up early." she says.
I nodded. I knew everything is so hard for Elijah, her father being in the military and all. I needed to be more kind to her. So I knew was going to pamper her this week.
The bus pulled up on school and the kids rushed out. I left Elijah, as I headed to homeroom. If I was going to spoil Elijah or whatever I needed a plan. And this was going to take a whole lot of thinking.
I got to my locker and put all my books in. If I wanted to get Elijah stuff she wanted I needed to go to her closest female friend. Alicia.
I walked to the gym in search of Alicia. I knew they were tight so I needed to find her, to know what to get for Elijah and spoil her.
"Aaron!" Alicia’s voice scared me, as I turned around and she was there. "Hi Alicia, can we talk?" I asked, I was always nervous around Alicia it wasn't because I liked her. She was just scary.
"Sure" she cheered. I nodded before sitting on a bleacher. "So I wanted to sort of do something for Elijah since her dad is coming home, got any ideas?" I asked. I really wanted this weekend to be special for her.
"Yes, take her out to that diner she likes." she shrugged. I nodded. "Thanks Alicia" I said before running out the gymnasium.
I ran to homeroom, my books nearly flying out my hands.
All day I had the perfect thing I was going to do. It was all planned out in my head. Even though she as getting a treat it was going to be another surprise, I was finally going to ask her to be my girl friend.
As the end of the day rolled by and my final class was near end, the intercom spoke.
"Can Elijah Auburn and Aaron Carpenter please be dismissed? The lady asked. My teacher agreed and Elijah and I walked out.
After going to our lockers and walking to the office, we saw Elijah’s mom and my mom side by side. Then I wouldn’t have noticed both of their eyes were slightly red, but I didn't I was too excited for my plans. We both headed in opposite directions.
"Bye Aaron." she shouted from down the hall. Her long curls bouncing as she ran. "Bye Elijah!" I shouted, running in the opposite direction. Who knew that would be the last time I would ever see her again.
