Sonadow IDW # 5 - 6 [English]

As always, Shadow made his appearance when least opportune, just when Mr. Tinker mentioned Eggman Land for the first time.

- Hold on Shadow! This isn't what it looks like!

It was the first thing that came to his mind but he knew it sounded bad and it had pissed him off even more.

Standing there on the roof flashing his fangs the black Hedgehog looked quite imposing, Sonic almost did not pay attention to Rogue when she asked him to hurry and explain, Shadow passed by his side making him turn his head in his direction, it was inevitable "I haven't seen him for so long ..." Sonic thought.

- I'll admit that "Eggman Land" is iffy...

Accelerating to get in between Shadow and Mr. Tinker, Sonic explains how the man is not really Dr.Eggman in theory since as the Chaotix, the villagers and even he himself had been able to confirm, he had lost his memory.

- Losing one's memory doesn't make them any less dangerous.

Shadow stubbornly snarks, pulling Sonic away. Blue's reflex is to take him by the shoulders to try to reason with him.

- Yeah... Ok. Fair point point but he...

The black hedgehog reacts to the touch abruptly, turning his head to the right to see the white glove on his shoulder, he makes a sudden movement pushing himself with his left arm to free himself from Sonic by stepping back.

- You're not listening ...

They both start running across the field, Shadow trying to reach Mr. Tinker while Sonic keeps cutting him off.

- You're ... Not ... Touching Him!

Shadow's anger is apparent, his response is to throw a swipe that finishes patting Sonic on the forehead. Blue, taking his wrist, pulls him until he throws Shadow back first into the wall of a house, watching not to do it too hard. Now they were playing seriously. Sonic's heart was pounding as their eyes met, he truly missed this. Both are shot in a frantic race of collisions and shoves, reaching the base of the nearby mountain and then the top in a blink.

- Having trouble getting past me? I thought you were fast!

Shadow accelerates his thrusters almost beyond blue, but Sonic simply picks up the pace leaving him behind again, entering a grove on the other side of the mountain.

- Look, I get it. Eggman has been a grade-A jerk for years ...

The black hedgehog uses his Spin Dash at full speed to overtake Sonic and knock down some trees in his path. Sonic uses his own spinning ability to dodge the trunks that almost fall on him. "Wow, really I managed to make him jealous," Sonic thinks.

- But he has also done some good stuff too!

Shadow stops frowning at him in annoyance.

- Like, remember that business on the Ark back then? He helped us save the world!

The red eyes are now fixated on the green irises with even more intensity, his eyelids narrowed accentuating the disgust.

- Okay... So he kinda started that mess too ... But it's not like he was aiming to destroy the world ...

Shadow simply turns around to take advantage.

- Wait! I'm not done yet!

"He's so stubborn!" For a moment he remembered all the times that Amy ran after him ... The last time had been for him to join the resistance and on that occasion he had also rejected her. Shaking the thought from his head, Sonic resumes the chase.

- All right. How about when the Black Arms invaded? Do you remember all that? Eggman fought the alien invasion with us! Without him, we might have not lasted long enough to have save the day.

It seemed that the black hedgehog would finally listen to reason, however, frowning further Shadow continues the race. "Does it really bother you so much that I talk like this about Eggman?" Sonic who is more focused on Shadow than on the road bumps into a root and gets fired against a tree trunk. The Blue hedgehog leans against the wood for an instant to catch his breath and Shadow sees an opening, ramming him and imprisoning Sonic against the hardwood.

- Have you forgotten that he made you suffer? That he has tried to destroy you multiple times?

This seems to annoy Shadow in particular.

- How can you even suggest leniency for him after all that!?

He retorts raising his voice. The strong contact of Shadow's arm against his chest makes his heart race even though they are no longer running.

- You tried to destroy me in the past too... remember?

Sonic responds with a slight laugh. The fierce grin of sharp teeth of the Black Hedgehog fades away, unable to hold his gaze, he looks down a swallowing little saliva. Sonic looks somewhat scratched by the blow against the log.

- You even tried to obliterate an entire planet. So what? Do you want me to take you out with Eggman?

Their eyes meet again.

- After all ... If he can't be forgiven, can you?

His comment has the desired effect and Shadow is discouraged, he stops pressing Blue's body against the tree, looking in the opposite direction and turning his face to turn away.

- Come on, Shad. People can change.

Sonic takes him by the shoulders again but this time Shadow does not escape. Making him turn towards him again, Blue puts a hand on his face and another on his chest; Looking at his red eyes of long black eyelashes as he gently runs his fingers through the white fur of his chest he plants a tender kiss on the black hedgehog's lips. Shadow remains motionless for a moment but then responds by taking Sonic by the hips with one hand and his chin with the other, kissing him back vigorously. It had really been a long time for both of them. The kiss does not last long and culminates when Shadow raises the hand that was on Sonic's waist and holding his face from with both hands, gently bites the lower lip of the latter burying his fangs taking care not to make him bleed, then move away raising his shoulders.

- What is your plan for him?

He asks supporting his fists on the sides of his body and looking at the mountain in the distance. It was evening and the sun bathed his black body with a reddish light that shone the crimson accents of his fur. Looking him up and down for a moment Sonic laments that the kiss is over so soon, although perhaps it is best not to raise too much suspicion.

- Let him stay in the village. He has been helping them so I was going to let him keep doing his thing... I want to nail down what he thinks Eggman Land is first, though...

Sonic responds after the short break.

- You distracted me... Lured me away!

Shadow turns his back.

- Well yeah, because you didn't listen to...

Sonic can't finish the sentence because Shadow uses Chaos Control to teleport and gain distance in the race back.
